Karate had always been a part of Veronica Becker's life. Her mother, Caroline, became a black belt when she was seven; her uncle owned a dojo in Seaford, California; it was certain that she would soon join the sport.
And she did. She took her mother's title of the youngest black belt when she was six years old.
Life was going well for Veronica Becker. Until her mother died in a car crash on her way to school to pick up her only child. And four months later, her father was deployed overseas for a year. Being placed in her Uncle Rudy's care, he felt she needed more social interaction which led to her being enrolled in his dojo.
