( season two, episode fourteen )

❝ i don't want romance advice from
somebody who went towards a man who
growls like a bear. ❞

𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐁𝐄 the first person to say that she was not a girl who was very in tune with her emotions. She was the type of person who would rather keep her feelings and emotions inside than deal with them.

Was that healthy? Absolutely not. But that's who she was.

And that was certainly the case for her young fifteen-year-old heart. She had never been the type to think about her feelings or any potential crushes. Why would she? She had other, more pressing things to keep her mind occupied.

But for whatever reason, she could not get Jack Brewer out of her mind.

And it wasn't just because her uncle spoke of him every day during dinner.

Jack was unlike any other boy she had ever met, either at her old school or at Seaford High. He was never obvious or obnoxious about a crush he had if he even had one. It was a breath of fresh air from all of the other boys at school. Whether it was Frank and his inappropriate crush on Veronica, or Randy and his delusional future with Kim, it was safe to say that being a girl sucked sometimes.

Correction; most of the time.

But Jack was sweet. He always knew how to make her smile, even if it was the last thing she wanted to do. And she certainly didn't miss the passing smiles between Milton and Kim whenever she talked with Jack.

If they were being subtle, they were terrible at it.

"Did I lose you somewhere? Hello?"

Veronica shook the thoughts out of her head. "I do not have a crush on Jack. What are you talking about?"

Kim raised her eyebrows. "Ronnie... that's not what I asked..."

"Oh."

"But..." Kim leaned forward on the table and Veronica glanced around Phil's; had anybody else heard her unplanned declaration? "This is much more interesting than talking about what movie we should go see. You have a crush on Jack?"

"Uh—"

"This is huge!" the blonde exclaimed excitedly making Veronica let out a breath. "We've practically been waiting for this day for two years. Did it have to take you guys so long? Seriously, it was painful to watch."

"Kim!" Veronica said forcefully to stop her friend's rambling. "I—" She held her head in her hands. "Okay, yes, I have a crush on Jack."

Kim practically squealed at her words. "I knew it!"
