𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 in the courtyard of the mall with books open in front of them when Milton, Eddie, and Jerry joined them at the table. She looked up briefly and smiled softly before turning the page of her book.
"This Chinese food is terrible," Eddie said, sitting down.
Milton scoffed. "Well, what did you expect from a place called 'The Scabby Dragon'?" he asked in response.
"I'll take one of those fortune cookies," Jack said, opening it. "Hard to mess them up." Veronica peeked over his shoulder at the paper. "'You are about to embark on an exciting journey.'"
"Oh, sweet, dude." Jack and Veronica looked at Jerry. "That's a good one." He held one out to Veronica. "What do you got, Ronnie?"
She sighed and cracked open the cookie. "The person next to you will change your life," she read.
"Well, Jack is next to you," Milton said with a shrug.
"So is Eddie," she retorted before standing up and collecting her book. "Enjoy your food, boys."

"𝐈 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒," 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊 said while Veronica sat beside Milton on the mats in the dojo. "I am going to the Junior World Martial Arts Championships in China!"
"I wanna gonna go," Milton chuckled and they looked at him. "But I'm not what they call... you know... good."
Veronica pressed her lips together and patted him on the shoulder. "Guys, I've been dreaming about this tournament since I got into martial arts," Jack told his friends and she smiled softly. "How did this happen?"
"I may know how it happened..." Rudy said and his niece snorted. "I might have taken it upon myself to write a letter about a certain student, and possibly sent it to, oh, I don't know... China."
Jerry walked over to him. "Dude, this is important. Try to remember. Did you do it or not?"
"Of course I did it," Rudy replied with a scoff. "Jack's amazing. He's undefeated. He's never lost a match in his life."
Jack cleared his throat. "Rudy... can I talk to you outside for a minute?"
He nodded. "Oh, and Ronnie, you can't forget about yours," he said and she furrowed her brows, taking the envelope from her uncle.
"My—my what?" she stuttered, staring down at the letter. "Rudy—"
