Single Parent (Yeonbin)

Sixteen

Soobin woke up when he heard movement and whines next to him. He opened his eyes and looked to see that Minjae had climbed into their bed and seemed to be having a nightmare.

He sat up a bit and pulled the boy into his lap, laying his head on his shoulder while rubbing his back gently. "Hey bub, it's okay. It's just a bad dream, nothings going to hurt you. Appa's here~" he said, comforting the boy, who calmed down, holding onto Soobin as he continued sleeping. Soobin smiled fondly at the little figure.

He looked to his side when he felt the blankets move a bit. He watched a sleepy Yeonjun rubbing his eyes and looking at him, concerned.

"Was Minnie crying?"

Soobin shook his head. "He just had a bad dream. I think he's okay now." He explained, and the older smiled.

"Thank you, Binnie~" he said, sitting up to kiss his cheek, as well as Minjae's.

Soobin hummed and gently rubbed the child's back as he gently rocked him back and forth in his arms.

Yeonjun watched happily with a smile. "You're gonna be such a good dad~" he complimented, scooting closer to Soobin and laying his head on his shoulder. "I'm so happy that you want to adopt him, you have no idea." He said, giggling softly.

Soobin smiled and kissed his temple. "Of course~ being with you means loving every part of you, and loving Minnie, too. I'm not doing it because I have to, but because I really want to."

Yeonjun nodded and hugged his free arm, relaxing there for a bit. "Binnie, do you want to go to the agency today to get the paperwork together?" He asked softly, inhaling the younger's scent.

The blonde nodded and looked down at the sleeping boy in his arms. "Yeah. We should probably tell Minnie, too." He said, looking at the older.

Yeonjun got up off the bed and grabbed some clothes out of the closet and drawer, setting them on the edge of the bed before changing his clothes first.

Soobin gently laid Minjae down on the bed and gave him one of Yeonjun's stuffed foxes to cuddle with before also changing. It didn't take too long before the boy woke up, rubbing his eyes and looking around tiredly.

"Good morning, Sweet pea~" Yeonjun said, walking over and kissing his cheek.

The boy smiled and hummed. "Morning Papa!" He said happily. Yeonjun smiled and sat next to him. Soobin followed after him, sitting on the other side of him.

"Minnie, there's something I want to ask you and it's really important." Soobin said.

Minjae tilted his head curiously and looked at him. "What is it?"

Soobin smiled and ruffled his hair. "Well, me and your Papa Junnie were thinking, how would you like it if I adopted you and became your real Appa?"

The toddler gasped and shot up from sitting to jump on Soobin. "Really?! I would love it!! Yay!" He giggled happily.

Both adults looked at each other and smiled, happy.

"Well, let's get you dressed then so we can go sign the official papers!" He said and the younger wasted no time getting up and running to his clothes drawer.

Yeonjun helped him get dressed before bringing him out of their bedroom and to the living room.

They went outside and got in Soobin's car, making sure Minjae was buckled up properly before driving to the adoption agency.

The couple walked into the building, each holding one of Minjae's hands as they swung him carefully in the air, earning giggles until a lady came up to them.

"Good morning! What brings you guys here today?" She asked with a smile.

Yeonjun hummed and looked at her, still holding his son's hand. "We'd like to get official adoption papers for my boyfriend."

The lady tilted her head. "Isn't he an adult though?" She asked, confused.

Soobin chuckled and nodded. "I am, but that's not what he meant, Miss. what he meant to say was for me to get adoption papers so I can adopt his son, this cutie patootie right here~" he said, patting Minjae's head.

The lady gasped, finally getting her gears to turn. "Ohhh!!" She smiled and looked at the little boy. "Of course! We rarely see any families come to get adoption papers that aren't for the children in the center nowadays, but we do still have them!" She said, going behind a desk and grabbing a packet.

"Let's have a seat over here, shall we?" She said, leading them over to a waiting room with a couch, a few chairs, and a coffee table. They sat down and got comfy with Minjae sitting between them.

"So, here is your packet. I'd like you to fill out the information asked about your son on the first couple pages and then tell me when you're finished.

Yeonjun did as he was told, writing things like his full name, age, birthday, social security number, place of birth, etc. until he finished. "I'm done." He said softly, waiting for the next instructions.

The lady took a look at the packet and nodded, typing the information into her laptop. "Alright." She then looked at Minjae and smiled. "Hello there, little buddy! Do you accept this lovely man as your new appa?" She asked, testing if the kid was comfortable with the process of adoption, since sometimes, the kids get put into bad situations due to them.

The small boy nodded happily with a big smile on his face, clinging to Soobin's arm. "Appa Binnie is always so nice to me! I love appa Binnie!!" He giggled.

The lady nodded at that answer, happy for the family. "Okay then! There are two pages at the back, one is for you to sign," she pointed to Yeonjun. "And the other is for you to sign and add your information on it." She said, pointing at Soobin.

Both boys nodded and signed the document, reading it carefully. Once they were done, they gave it back to her, letting her read over it before smiling. "I'm going to run this through the scanner to get you guys a printed copy as well, so we can have one to keep, and so you can have one as well without the pen marks. Obviously we have to keep the original for security purposes, but yeah. I will be right back. Congrats by the way!" She said, getting up to go back to her desk.

Yeonjun sighed softly before looking at Soobin. "I'm so happy right now, Binnie~ I never thought we would have a family together!" He said, smiling widely.

The younger smiled back and gently caressed his cheek. "I'm happy, too. I'm glad to be part of you and Minnie's family. You both make my days better~" Yeonjun smiled as Soobin leaned in to kiss him softly.

"EW PDA!!"

The couple looked down at Minjae, who was covering his eyes, and chuckled. "You really have been spending way too much time with Taehyun." Yeonjun said, pulling Minjae onto his lap so he could cuddle him, earning giggles from the younger.

Soon, the lady came back with a few more papers and another packet, handing them to both adults. "Here you go! You boys are all set to go! You are now officially Choi Minjae's second father and I wish you guys well in the future!" She said, smiling happily for them.

"Thank you!" They said before getting their things and leaving with their son.

They headed back to car and got in, buckling up.

Soobin hummed softly, turning to look at both boys with a wide smile.

"How about we go get some ice cream?" He asked.

Minjae squealed from the backseat, raising his hands in the air. "Ice Cream!!!!!!"

Yeonjun smiled at his cute reaction before looking at Soobin, who was looking at him, too. He was with the two boys he loved the most, and he couldn't ask for anything more, because they meant the world to him already.

"Let's go then~"
