As most purebloods, Olympia has never been allowed to sleep in late.
As far as she can remember, waking up has always been accompanied by the loud chirping of birds and the first rays of sunshine sneaking in through her expensive drapes.
Even back at Ilvermorny, that's how her days always started.
It's different now, though. Slytherin's dorms lay below the Black Lake, making it impossible for either the sound of birds or rays of sunshine to reach the dormant students.
Still, a peaceful morning is something she values deeply — It just so happens that today is not one of those.
"Quiet down!" Millicent Bulstrode's voice bounces against the walls, echoing around the dorm. "People are trying to sleep!" She half hisses, half whispers. Her tone still groggy from sleep.
"Sorry!" Daphne winces, shoving her belongings back inside her trunk.
Olympia's eyes remained close. Her mind floating somewhere in between conscious and unconscious. She's tired and her body begs her for another hour of sleep, it's not time to wake up yet; she's certain of that.
Especially because the dorm is pitch black, otherwise, if the sun was to be up, the room would be tinted green because of the light illuminating the Black Lake's murky waters.
"Daphne, shut up!" It's Tracey who groans this time, her whine being followed by something hitting the floor with a soft, dry thump.
A pillow, Olympia guesses.
"Watch it, Davis." Pansy's voice is frightening and Olympia can almost picture the narrowing of her eyes and the furrowing of her eyebrows.
The dorm goes quiet for a whole minute, the only disturbance being the hallowed water noise coming from the outside. It's eerily silent and Olympia breaths in deeply, willing herself to go back to sleep.
It's such a shame that the arguing picks up its pace again and the made up paradise lasts shorter than a second — Merlin, she thinks, who the hell gave humans the ability to speak and thought it was a brilliant idea?
The shouting increases in volume, making the jabs being thrown around indecipherable.
"What's all this commotion about?" She pulls the drapes around her four poster bed open, complaining slightly as the blanket falls to rest around her hips and the cool air nips through her pyjamas and into her skin.
Millicent turns to look at her with crazed eyes from her own bed, pointing an incriminating finger at Daphne. "Ask her!"
At least Olympia thinks she's referring to Daphne but seeing as the dorm is completely dark and not a single candle is lit, she can't really tell.
"Daphne?" She asks tentatively, feeling extremely grateful when she receives a hum in confirmation. "It's the bloody crack of dawn, why are you up?"
The answer comes from somewhere to her left. "I've got a busy day." Daphne whispers, though it really isn't necessary, seeing as her antics have caused everyone to be wide awake.
A couple of groans are heard, followed by the constant shuffling of silk sheets.
"Congratulations!" Millicent says with bitter sarcasm, rolling on her bed and burying her head under the pillow she still has left. "Go and be busy somewhere else!"
"It's our first day back, where could you possibly have to be?" Pansy asks, quickly rising to her feet and trailing behind the older Greengrass.
"The pitch." Daphne doesn't stop, she keeps on moving, going to the loo as she lights it up with nothing more than a gentle wave of her wand.
