Yujin
Three days and 17 hours.
That's the amount of time I think has passed since my first trial of escape. Emphasis on the word trial.
I have been through a few more tunnels, but I've only gone so far without facing wolves, huge lizards, trolls, and very easily agitated faeries. Who would have thought that those sweet little things could get so fiesty and resort to biting and hair pulling!?
I panted as I arrived back at the main room. I didn't even acknowledge the dragon who was snickering at me. Yes, I did not even try being subtle anymore as I have learned that the dragon found amusement at my stealth skills, or lack thereof.
"I see you've angered the earth faeries, cranky jewel." The dragon chuckles as I tried removing the dirt and mud from the clothes I burrowed.
I glared at her but did not answer. I am not cranky nor am I a fragile jewel! I have gone through the tunnels within the tunnels, but the fear of getting lost would make me go back here in case I run to a greater danger. One thing I learned throughout my conversations— or better yet, arguments— with the great beast, is that she truly will not hurt me. Although, it is a different matter if I harmed myself due to my escape trials which she simply find entertaining.
At this point, I'm pretty sure the fear has worn off and all that is left is frustration at my situation.
"Oh, and maybe a castle-load of anger at my captor." I gritted under my breath, looking at her hoard for some rope. All I saw was silk sheets and well-sewn tapestries.
"Heard that, jewel." I heard a grumble from behind.
"As you should." I whispered still.
"Heard that as well."
I ignored the snickering dragon from behind me and kept searching for something that could help me tie something. I have been using various weapons I could grab hold on from the dragon's hoard, and she never stopped me or got mad. It is either she does not really care about the things I take or maybe because I return them afterward. Either way, I have continued to fail and I am now eyeing the only sure way out.
And just my luck, I found a silver chain with emerald gem designs. Flashy, but it will certainly do what I need it to do.
I marched towards the ledge where a protruding boulder was.
"What are you doing?"
I ignored the dragon and tied the chain around my waist. I made sure that it's safe for my weight by tugging the silk sheets through the chain holes and tying it repeatedly. I did the same to the other end of the chain that I placed around the boulder. I pulled and kick the boulder a few times, tugging myself to make sure it won't loose its hold on me.
"... That is absolutely preposterous. Are you crazy?"
"Maybe," I glared at her, as I saw her stand from her nap. "And don't you dare stop me."
"Oh, jewel, I would never dream of it." She stood beside the small boulder and laid her head down again on her tail, chuckling. "Why would I stop something so interesting?"
I scoffed. "I'm happy to be of service, beast."
"Likewise, silly jewel."
I walked to the edge and looked down, I gulped. The ground seems so far away.
"You know the chains don't reach up to the ground, yes?"
"Of course," I rolled my eyes. "I just need to reach that other ledge down there." I say pointing at the little space protruding from the mountain. There was even a small tree growing where I could tie the chain once more. Well, hoping that the dragon helps me untie it. Honestly, I truly might be crazy for telling my captor what I am doing to escape and even hope that said captor will help me. Anyway! One problem at a time.
