Yujin
I woke up feeling sore and disoriented after I heard voices echoing in the mountain. I sat up and almost fainted at the pain I felt in my arm and leg. The herbs must have worn off because I am feeling the pain much, much more than earlier. I knew that I was pale and my lips were probably blue. The cold mountain is definitely not helping.
I slowly rose and approached the wall for support.
Come on, I can just limp through this.
With every step, I grimaced. By the time I was able to arrive at the entrance, I was sweating despite the cold and I bruised my lips for biting on them too hard.
"... Fine, beast. I will acquiesce as long as you hold up the bargain."
The voice was someone I definitely know. I peek out from the edge of the tunnel and my eyes widened.
Father!
"You don't have to worry as our kind have always kept our promises, human. I cannot say the same for yours." The dragon snorted.
Gasping, I cover my mouth. I have never seen such magic performed before. Sure, I know it exists but never have I seen it up close as a means of communication aside from using an enchanted orb.
The two figures looked in my direction.
"My darling daughter." Father cried. When I stepped in front of the torches, father gasped and turned angrily to the dragon. "You! You despicable and heartless monster! How could you do this to my daughter!?"
The dragon puffed out a small fire, as if snorting at a joke. "If you wish to harm my pride, oh dearly respected king, you would have to do better than that."
"No, father—" I tried to quickly explain how my wounds came to be but he didn't look my way.
"You took my wife from me, her crown, and our daughter! Your tyranny is insatiable, beast!"
"The more you speak, the more I regret I did not burn your kingdom." She spats.
I tried speaking to pacify the situation. "Father, please—"
He turned to give me a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, my daughter. I—"
"Foolish and rude. You are embodying the traits I abhor most in humans, king of Kalopsia." The dragon sneered.
My father was breathing heavily out of anger and I prayed that he would not make the situation worse. "I am not speaking to you, murderer! I will—"
"You will listen to me," She rose to her full height and flapped her wings open. "If she desires to speak, you shall listen. You speak of tyranny yet you do not even listen to your own daughter. I have no more words to you." She flapped her wings and my father's fuming smoke of magic disappeared.
Silence descended in the main cavern as I stared at my crown where the smoke originated from.
"Rest, jewel. Your body is barely standing." I stared at her as she flopped back down and closed her eyes.
I slowly limped towards where her head lies. When I was close enough to rouch her, I hesitated. Shaking my head and gathering courage, I gingerly put my uninjured hand on her scales, right below her eyes.
"Brave of you to be this close to a beast, reckless jewel. I could easily eat you whole." She murmered without opening her eyes.
"But you won't." I whispered.
