It's safe to say that Karma is not a cat purring on my lap right now. I don't know who I hurt to deserve such a horrible headache, but God, I'm literally dying right now.

My eyes are still closed, but I can sense that the sun is up, burning my face. I'm too sore to move, lying on what seems to be sand. I can feel a blanket, which is nice. I can't recall how I got here, on this beach, sleeping, with a headache.

Wait

Hold on

Where the fuck am I right now?

The sense of urgency brings me back to life, and I rise to my feet.

"Oh, be careful, little lady!" I try to scan my surroundings, but my blurry vision drags me back to the sand. Two sets of arms catch me before I can hit the ground, which is good because otherwise I would have landed on my face.

A girl with dark skin and beautiful braided hair holds me while a guy with blond hair steps away from me.

"Are you okay?" he asks, giving me a bottle of water. I take a sip, and I sense my headache fading slightly away.

"Oh yeah, I just... shit, I can't find a joke to describe my actual state. That's bad," I say and sit down with the help of the girl.

They both laugh awkwardly, and I suddenly realize that my partner in crime is nowhere to be seen.

"Topper!" I gasped, looking frantically around. "Don't worry, he's okay; he stayed with you all night, but John B and he needed to talk." Oh, he stayed with me all night?

"And you are?" I look up to both, trying to make sense of the situation.

"Cleo," she said with a smile, and I immediately relaxed next to her. Her presence was strangely soothing.

"J.J., at your service, my lady," he says, holding out his hand for me to shake as I laugh.

"Sooo, you're the famously known Pogues everybody is looking for, right?"

He makes a gesture of reverence, and I see Cleo roll her eyes with a smile. He may be as melodramatic as I am, I already adore him.

It could have been worse. I almost died last night. One more thing to check off my bingo life card.

"So, you live here now?" I point out the land of sand around us and finally notices what seems to be homemade tents and the remaining of a fire

"cozy ..."

I miss Topper's room already. And to top it off, him too, a little

What happened to him?

"Oh, she's awake now."
