Paradise

The next morning, we wake up and get ready for the day. I filled a beach bag with towels, sunscreen, snacks, and my latest romance novel that I'm reading. Before heading to the beach, we decide we're going to go to the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast. We make our way downstairs and get a table next to the wall. As we take our seats, our waiter steps behind us and pulls on a handle on the wall. Little did we know, the walls are actually a bunch of massive  doors that open up to a beautiful pond where swans float across the water and koi fish swim all around the water, lingering on the surface just waiting for food.

"Oh my god, this is amazing." I say as I take in each and every tiny detail I can find.

Tyler smiles and says, "This place is almost as beautiful as you."

I rolled my eyes and chuckled, "That was the cheesiest line I have ever heard."

He laughs softly and orders chocolate milk for Cam and a couple coffees for us. The waiter gives us the green light to go to the breakfast buffet and leaves to get our drinks. We make our way over to the buffet where there is a beautiful display of every fruit you can think of, along with all the breakfast food you can imagine. Everything is so perfectly cut and cooked, it almost looks fake. We load our plates with as much food as we can and head back to our table. We stuff ourselves to the point of almost exploding.

"That was the best breakfast I've ever had, hands down." I say as I lean back in my seat.

Tyler does the same and says, "Well, now I'm offended. I've made you a damn near gourmet breakfast plenty of times."

I giggle and say, "Okay, okay. You are basically Gordon Ramsey."

We head back upstairs to change into our bathing suits and grab the beach bag that I packed earlier this morning. We lather up in sunscreen and head to the beach. It's not very crowded, which I am so grateful for. Cameron and Tyler run off into the water and swim while I sit under the umbrella, squishing my toes in the sand and reading my book. I have never felt more at peace in my life than I feel right now. This sun hits differently than the one back home. And the deeper I dig my toes into the sand, the cooler it gets. This is my happy place.

Tyler and Cam come running back up to the umbrella where I'm sitting and grab a couple waters from the bag.

"I never want to go home! This place is awesome!" Cameron says in between chugs.

Tyler and I smile at him, "Well, we have the rest of the week here in paradise and then we have to go home." I said, watching the disappointment spread across his face.

Tyler notices and says, "Hey, little man. There's no reason to be sad! We have to go back home so we can have your birthday party!"

I look at Tyler in disbelief, considering the fact that I never fully agreed to a party in the first place. Cameron's face lights up and he says, "A birthday party?!"

I sit in silence and allow Tyler to take the lead on this conversation, "Yeah! Whitney and Blake will be there, and Lucy and Sophia! And we can invite Hannah, too!"

Cameron excitedly shouts back, "Can we have it on the football field?"

Tyler chuckles and says, "I don't think we can have it there, kiddo. But we can have it at home in the backyard. Does that sound alright?"

Cameron nods his head and starts building a sand castle. Tyler looks back at me with apologetic eyes and whispers, "I'm sorry, I just couldn't take that look of disappointment much longer."

I roll my eyes and turn my attention back to my book. The boys continue to build the castle for a while until lunch time. We head back up to our suite and order room service. It only takes room service about 20 minutes to bring up our food. We sit on the couch together and eat our lunch, while watching Cameron's cartoons. I clean everything up, set it back on the cart, and leave the cart right outside our door. I read a book to Cameron and sang our usual songs as I watched him drift off to sleep.
