CASSIE SAT AT THE BYERS DINING TABLE THE NEXT MORNING, a cup of orange juice in her hands as her arm rested on her drawn-up knee. She watched Jonathan make breakfast for her and his family. Cassie loved the mornings when she woke up at the Byers' house. For the most part, it was just Cassie and Jonathan in the kitchen, not exchanging any words, just quiet glances of longing and love.

They were silent most mornings, occasionally singing softly or throwing in a snarky comment about the other. Cassie loved watching Jonathan make breakfast, the sun streaming in through the window and capturing his face. It just made everything seem so normal. She felt normal.

Cassie would often fantasize about this being her future. Waking up with Jonathan and having these quiet mornings together before going off to work. They'd come home in the afternoons, conversing lively about their day as they made dinner together before they retired to their bedroom, lulling each other to sleep with soft touches and whispered words. She'd never craved for something more than she did a future with Jonathan.

"Jonathan?" came Joyce's slightly panicked voice, breaking their silence.

"Yeah?" he called back, dishing up the scrambled eggs he was making. Joyce appeared in the kitchen, looking slightly stressed.

        "Where's Will?" she asked him.

"What?" Jonathan replied, just as confused.

"Where's Will?" she repeated, her arms out in a questioning motion.

"He's not in his room?" Jonathan asked her, becoming more confused by the second.

"No," Joyce told him, walking back down the hallway at a strange sound. Jonathan shook his head as the pair heard Will's voice from down the hallway. He placed Cassie's breakfast in front of her.

"You don't think she's a little on edge?" Cassie questioned him softly, being the first one to speak between them. He shrugged, grabbing his plate and sitting down next to her.

"She's always on edge," he muttered back. Cassie nodded, taking a mouthful of her orange juice.

"But like, just more on edge," she said. She put her foot back on the ground. She sat forward in her seat, pulling Jonathan's unbuttoned flannel she was wearing closer to her body. "With the anniversary and stuff." Jonathan shrugged again.

"Yeah, just a little." He gave her a tight-lipped smile. She returned it, placing her hand on the table, her palm facing upward. Jonathan grabbed it. They squeezed each other's hands before pulling away and eating their breakfast.

Soon, Will came out in his Ghostbusters costume for Halloween. Cassie smiled at him, seeing how happy he was in the suit.

"Little dude, you look super cool," she told him, putting her hand up for a high five. He smacked his hand against hers, a wide smile on his face.
