Chap 19

"Elizabeth" James shook me. "wake up. Its morning"
"Huh?" I sat up and looked around. All the memories of last night flushed into my head.
"Oh my god where is Hansel?"
"Calm down" he said. "no one got to us but they will soon. We have to leave"
I nodded and got up. My jeans were smeared with mud and so was my jacket. I took it off and wrapped it around my waist.
We walk on towards the country side. Talking and making sure no one came. I told him the entire story of what happened in dark London. He told me more about Hansel. There were still a few uknown facts but those didn't matter. We came to a stop. The area was empty except a few trees and bushes surrounding it.
"Let's stop here" he said.
"okay"
"There is a river nearby. I'm going to freshen up abit."
"Sure. I'll gather up the wood"
"Oh and Elizabeth!"
"Yeah?"
"I'm glad I have you as a friend" I smiled.
" Again the emotional James eh?"
"Hey! you ruined the moment!" I smacked his head.
" Now go"
"Okay" he chuckled and so did I.
I watched him go through the trees and sighed. I would give up anything to have him as my best friend.
I started gathering sticks for our fire at night and tries to get some fruits from the trees above us.
The bushes shifted and I looked up, expecting it to be James and yes, it was James but not quite him. I was shocked.
" Elizabeth!" James ran up to me. His face was different. He looked cold and plain. He looked skinny. His eye was bruised. He had been beaten up.
"Oh my god james! what's wrong? what happened? who did this to you?"
He looked at me with anger," look who's asking?" His tone was just not usual.
"You did this to me! Everything happening to me is your fault!"
He pushed me and walked away.
"James!" I ran behind him. He slipped into the shadows. I never saw him again. I ran so much, I searched so much but I did not find him.

Next morning:
I sat there by the fire, waiting for a sign, something. How could he leave me like that? all this while I was troubled about murdering him and it did not even take a second for him to walk away. I thought he was my best friend! I thought I had found someone in life. Or was all of that just a story? a story that would never be complete. Why do people write stories on friends and such good things when the truth is that everyone is selfish! everybody cares about themselves! nobody is there for you...... nobody. my parents gave up on me and now my best friend.

I sat there and cried. I heard a sound in the bushes and saw someone shifting. I looked up and saw noah walk out.
"Noah!" I backed away.
"Elyssa you shouldn't have done that. Now Hansel has ordered your murder along with James' "
"Wait. Y-You know where James i-is?"
"Yeah. We already beat him up and told him bad things about you. In fact, we already took him to the headquarters." I trembled.
"Oh my god"
"Now we will do the same to you." he signalled towards the bushes and Edward walked out followed by Cass.
"Cass! please help me!"
She looked towards me sadly, "I can't. Or they will kill me." I stood shocked. After all I had done for her?
"How could you Cass?"
"Im sorry. I don't want to die Elyssa. I don't" Edward and Noah grabbed me by my arms and carried me towards a car. I didn't fight them back. I didn't do anything. I had lost hope, completely. They took me to the headquarters and tied me to a chair, like Marie Fernando.
Hansel walked up to me, "this is what happens when you disobey me"
I remained silent. I had too much to bear.
he spoke up again, "one last wish?"
"Just tell me where is James"
He paused for a few minutes.
"James is dead" My eyes widened but not for long. Hansel pointed his gun towards me. I closed my eyes. My heart was beating rapidly. I had no hope of escaping and no hope of living. All the memories, happy and sad came back. The time I spent with my family. They will never know how much they meant to me. This was my end.
*bang bang*
