December could not come fast enough for Harriet...
I was excited. I had been thinking about it for almost a month. Even with all that, I didn't have anything appropriate to wear to the party. I decided on a sweetheart neckline sweater and ripped jeans. Abd a warm coat.
Even though we had not talked in more than a month, we did not miss a beat. Our conversation picked up right where we left it at. We were pretty much together all night. I was excited. At one time my apple watch screamed at me for having really high heart beat, even though I had been sitting idle for almost 30 minutes. It was probably because I was sitting between his legs, and he was hugging me from behind. My head was on his chest and his fingers might have touched my thighs.
Hoodie girl Harriet was smiling as she remembered If it were a movie, that intimacy would have resulted in something steamy, if not long term romance. However Harriett was naïve. She had not dated before. She was afraid, and he did not make a move.
It was back to square one after the party. We were not texting each other at all. He was all I could think of. I was getting obsessed with him.
Her friends told her Ryan was definitely interested, and she should start talking to him. She on the other hand still didn't feel like it.
One day when I was out with my friends at a coffee shop, the conversation veered towards Ryan. Everyone asked me to text him, and with all that peer pressure, I did.
Hi
A single word. That was all her friends could get her to type in before she hit Send. Within a minute, Insta said it was "seen".
He did not respond. We were all staring at my phone to see a message pop up, and it didn't. After few minutes, I said "Fuck it. Maybe he is not interested".
