Before they knew it the two weeks had passed.
Class 1A had prioritized solo training, which deeply annoyed the two soldiers who believed that teamwork was they key to success. However, not all was lost as they gave out tips who those who needed it, especially Y/n. She had a hard time watching everyone struggle on their own.

Now, class 1A was waiting to be called into the stadium. They had less than an hour before the tournament began and nerves were starting to get high. Some of the students distracted themselves by talking while others stretched.

"Midoriya." A cold voice caught everyone's attention.

"Todoroki?" Midoriya looked up. "What is it?"

"You know... from an objective point of view," The teen started. "I'm stronger than you." The room fell awfully silent. No one dared to move.  "And still... All Might has his eye on you, doesn't he?"

He was right, All Might had favored Midoriya from the very beginning and people were beginning to notice. Especially those trained to do so.

"I don't care about the reason. Just know I'm going to beat you." His eyes were cold and his voice spat venom. Todoroki was a force of nature that even Y/n had learned to be wary of. Still she felt the necessity to get to know him on a personal level.
"As for you." He turned to face Y/n, who was busy adjusting her hair. "Your power and origins are still a mystery to me. It's obvious that you haven't told us the whole truth." She stopped to look at him. She was about to answer when someone else cut her off.

"Wow, a declaration of war form the strongest?" It was Kaminari.

"So exciting." Followed by Ashido's comment.

"Hey hey, Calm down Todoroki!" Kirishima interrupted. "Why pick a fight now man?"

"We're not here to play and be friends." Todoroki moved towards the door. "This is a competition."

Midoriya, not wanting to start a fight began a small speech. "Hey Todoroki..."

But Y/n had stopped listening by then, too focused on her thoughts.

(Y/N's POV)

What a bitch

If he's so afraid of me winning then he should just say so... now he looks stupid.

Besides what's he going to do... freeze me?

With his 'Edgy vibes'?

Toru had dedicated a whole lunch break to teaching me the more basic terms of modern slang. 'Edgy' and 'vibe' were very important, especially 'vibe'.
And to be fair, they really did describe Shoto's personality.

So I laughed, because it was funny and it made sense to me. He made no sense, but that in its own little way made sense.

"Ok kid, whatever you say." I said in between laughs. Not meant to be in a bad way, although my words got misinterpreted.

"Woah chill Y/n!" Hanta was quick to protest -being as dramatic as always- while still making an ice pun.

"Yeah! You're a kid too!" Minoru followed.

Out of everyone who could say that... it had to be him?

I laughed again.

"Damn relax! You guys need to relax." I said standing up. I stretched myself before walking away. "Tension is not good, it ruins the vibe." Toru snickered at my use of the word. It was correct, just not the best timing. I exited the room, Armin following shortly after.
