(Y/N'S POV)

*This letter is to be delivered to Lara Tybur, by next month at the latest. Zeke Yeager do not fuck it up or I will kill you, you monkey ass bitch. And if you're reading this Pieck, I miss you.

My dearest Lara,

The last time I saw you, you asked for an explanation. At the time, I told you it would take me too much to tell you and to please forget about everything. That was over three years ago and I have since had enough time to meditate and write this letter. I hope Zeke keeps his word and delivers this intact and unopened. I'll start from the beginning, but for the sake of my family (the ones that are still alive) I will keep some things to myself.

My mother, Khonna Ackerman, was a very sickly woman. Father told me that she was born with a weak body and had always lived in pain. I never knew a version of my mother that wasn't bedridden. She would wail at odd hours in the early morning. Before the sun had even risen her cries would echo through the house, bouncing off walls.
She looked half-dead. Her semi translucent skin wrapped around her body like tarp, blue and purple veins fully visible. Her hair, gray despite being not older than twenty three. Eyes permanently stuck with a soulless look, with heavy eye bags sitting below them. She was a walking corpse.

For years my biggest fear was to end up like my mother, half dead, rotting in my bed while my children and husband lived in constant worry. Eventually, I stopped fearing that outcome. It occurred to me one day that my mother had been born sick while I was born in perfect condition. That fact alone allowed me to sleep at night, as I thought I would never end up like her.

I think Khonna Ackerman was a very pretty woman, at some point in her life. Honestly, I can't remember her that well. I know her face through photographs, so her voice, mannerisms and expressions are a mystery to me. I would ask my siblings about her but they were all younger than me when she passed, besides I don't think they want me around nowadays.

My mother died at the age of twenty five. When I was six. Father died less than a year later apparently from a broken heart. After that, we moved in with you. I will forever be grateful to your family for taking care of my siblings when I wasn't able to. I know it must've been hard taking care of Jiol and Erine, they can be a handful when they're together, must be that twin connection of theirs. Especially with Jiol, he seemed to have inherited mother's condition.

When I was training under Marley's orders I wasn't able to reveal anything, but now that I'm (technically) on my own I can tell you what happened. I was recruited into the Marleyan Warrior project a year after moving in with your family. There, I met Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt and the others I've already mentioned. I also met Zeke and it turns out he's my cousin. My late father, who I don't miss, had a sister named Dina or something like that.

Mother also had two older siblings, named Kenny and Kuchel. I know nothing about them except that one of them, Kuchel, had a son and died soon after. Kenny eventually found his nephew and brought him up for a while, before he too abandoned the boy. As fate would have it, I ended up meeting my cousin when I joined the Survey Corps in Paradis. His name is Levi and he looks so much like mother. I can't see the resemblance, but several of my comrades say that we have the same glare and scowl. We're also similar in height. There's also another girl in my unit that could be related to us. Her name is Mikasa Ackerman. She doesn't talk too much, always stays close to her two guy friends, but if you were to put her and Levi side by side you'd think they're definitely related.

I haven't told Levi yet about our family relationship but I'm planning to do so at some point, the thing is, I've only known the man for a little over a month. Besides, it would be strange to go up to my superior and start talking to him about how we're related.

Anyway, I hope this letter finds you in good health. How 's the family? Is Willy alright? Write to me as soon as you get this, I will make sure Zeke or whoever is in charge delivers it back to me safely.

I miss you and I will see you sooner than later.

Love,

Y/n

Ps.
I want to ask, Lara, how is Erine? Is she safe? Is she alright? Please let her know that I love her and constantly think of her.
