When Delilah came back around the next day, her and Wednesday had been called to Principle Weems' office.
"How could you miss a dead body?" Wednesday muttered
"Cause it wasn't there. Not footprints,no blood,no sign of struggle. Nothing, nada. My search party looked all night" sheriff Galpin replied.
"Well your search party must've left their seeing-eye dogs at home. We saw that monster kill Rowan right in front of us" Wednesday grumbled pointing at herself and Delilah who nodded in agreement.
"Get a good look at this monster thing?" He questioned looking between both girls.
"It didn't stick around for a chat" Wednesday hissed.
"Maybe it was one of yours classmates" ho told her.
"Sheriff, I find that question offensive" Mrs Weems spoke up.
"Well I don't care, cause I got three other dead bodies in the morgue. Hikers just ripped apart in the woods" he hissed.
"The mayor said those were bear attacks" Mrs Weems replied.
"Well the mayor and I disagree on that" He explained. Delilah just stood there awkwardly.
"So you automatically assume that a Nevermore student is the murderer, even though there's no evidence a crime was even committed" Mrs Weems argued back.
"I'm sorry. I forgot, you only teach the good outcasts here right" He said sarcastically and Mrs Weems sighed.
"My guess is Rowan ran away. State troopers have put out an alert, and I've contacted his family, but they haven't heard from him either" she continued.
"Dead people are notoriously bad at returning calls" Wednesday uttered and Delilah smirked at the comment, finding it quite amusing.
"What we're you doing out in the woods with him, Ms Addams,Ms Reese?" The sheriff questioned.
"I heard a noise in the forest and went to investigate. That when I stumbled upon the attack. Delilah must've seen me and followed" Wednesday explained.
"Still doesn't explain why exactly Ms Reese chased after you" he spoke looking at Delilah.
'I can sense when the people I care about are in danger. I saw Wednesday going into the woods and followed' Delilah signed glaring at the sheriff.
'She cares about me?' Wednesday thought.
"What is she saying?" He asked Mrs Weems confused and she explained.
"Then what happened?" He continued.
"I saw Bianca Barclay and told her to go for help. Delilah was frozen I couldn't get her to move. Next thing I remember, I was awaking in my dorm" Wednesday added
"And just to be clear, this monster wasn't a beards some other wild animal?" He asked.
"I've hibernated with grizzlies. I know the difference" Wednesday uttered in response.
"Thank you,Sheriff. I think Miss Addams and Miss Reese are done now" Ms Weems cut in quickly.
"Actually,we would like to speak to Sheriff Galpin. Alone" Wednesday explained and a look of confusion crossed Delilah's face but Wednesday nudged her so the brunette nodded along.
"I'm not sure I can allow that" Ms Weems mumbled.
"I'm sure I can take them both down to the station and get formal statements" Sheriff Galpin started and there was a long tense pause.
"Yeah let's go" he continued and went to stand up.
"Fine. You have five minutes, and everything is off the record. Play nice...or I will call the Mayor" Ms Weems spoke before leaving the room.
"Someone is trying to cover up Rowan's murder. That's the only reason to scrub the crim scene" Wednesday started.
"Is that your professional opinion as the daughter of a murderer?" Sheriff Galpin spoke, hatred laced in his voice.
"My father is twice the man you are,and the only thing he murders is the occasional opera in the shower" Wednesday replied and Delilah snickered earning herself a sharp glare from the sheriff.
"Girls,it's been a long night and I'm tired of your games" He sighed.
'We're not playing games. We're telling the truth,we know what we saw' Delilah signed and Wednesday translated.
"You want to reject our claims but you can't" Wednesday hissed.
"Why is that?" The man questioned.
"Because you,me and Delilah all know there's a monster out there. And Roman is his latest victim" Wednesday told him before the door opened making Delilah flinch.
"Sheriff?" A woman called.
"What?" He replied annoyed.
"You're gonna want to see this" she told him.
The door opened wider and Rowan stood there very much... alive. Delilah jaw dropped to the floor, her eyes wide. Rowan waved a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
Both Wednesday and Delilah had been forced to have therapy sessions that day where they were both accused of lying and being 'confused' about what they saw the night of the carnival which was very infuriating to say the least.

****************
Delilah was sat in the canoe reading a book while Enid and her friends painted the boat.
"Lilah! Are you going to help already?" Enid whined.
'Enid I'm reading be quiet' the brunette signed in reply a scowl present on her face. Enid sighed and went back to bossing the other about. All Delilah could hear was Enid being Enid as usual.
"If Bianca Barclay wins again this year,I will literally scratch my own eyes out" Enid yelled dramatically.
"I would pay money to see that" Wednesday muttered. Upon hearing Wednesday's voice Delilah jumped up throwing her book accidentally. It hit Enid on the head and she let out a yelp. Wednesday looked amused.
'Sorry Enid' Delilah signed as she grimaced. Enid said nothing but gave her a playful glare.
"I'm so glad you decided to stay" Enid squealed.
"I thought you wanted your room back?" Wednesday mentioned.
"Full disclosure, one roommate isn't enough and Thing gives a killer neck massage. It's a win-win. Plus,Delilah loves having you around" Enid continued. Delilah flushed bright red and looked down, she could feel Wednesday's gaze burning holes into her head.
"So...why the change of heart?" Enid asked snapping Wednesday from her thoughts.
"I refuse to play the role of a pawn in someone else's corrupt game" Wednesday told the blonde.
"You mean Rowan?" Enid questioned.
"I witnessed his murder,Enid. And not just me Delilah too" Wednesday explained and Delilah nodded.
"It's just we all saw him this morning. Very much like, not dead" Enid continued.
"I know. Which leads me to believe I've been losing my mind. You too Delilah, it's not nearly as fun as I had anticipated" Wednesday added. Delilah glared at the goth.
'I am NOT losing my mind' she signed and the brunette swears she saw the ghost of a smirk on Wednesday's face but it disappeared quickly.
"You're Nevermore's gossip queen. What's Rowan's story?" Wednesday questioned the blonde.
"Other than being a weirdo loner...uh...no offence" Enid hesitated.
"None taken" Wednesday replied.
"Xavier Thorpe's his roommate. You know,if you had a cell phone you could just text him and ask him. Yoko. Come on! Flare those whiskers. The Poe Cup droops for no one" Enid continued.
"What is the Poe Cup anyway?" Wednesday asked.
"Only my entire reason for living right now" Enid squealed.
'Part canoe race, part foot chase,no rules. Each dorm has to pick an Edgar Allan Poe short story for inspiration' Delilah signed for Enid and Wednesday nodded.
"You could grab a brush. Ms Thornhill just ordered pizza. Wanna take a stab at being social?" Enid tried to sound convincing. Delilah gave Wednesday a look and shook her head at the goth.
"I do like stabbing. The social part, not so much. Besides,it'll cut into my writing time" Wednesday told the blonde.
"No worries. As long as you're lakeside cheering us to victory on race day. Or you can just glare uncomfortably. Whatever works for you" Enid added and winked.
'Right well,I'm off' Delilah signed before hopping out of the boat.
"Aw come on! You too" Enid whined and Delilah just rolled her eyes playfully and trailed after Wednesday.
'You're lucky you said no. She would've bossed you around the whole time' Delilah signed once she caught up with the goth.
"No one bosses me around" Wednesday muttered in reply and Delilah just snickered.
