"Behind the door of Room 400, whispers stir and shadows play,
What lingers there may change your fate... if you dare to stay."
(Everything written in this book is fictional it has nothing to do with the idol's life, thank you.)
“How did you end up there?” Hoseok asked as Y/N blinked awake. They all stood behind him — Jackson and his guards included. Jeongin yawned, stretching his arms and accidentally smacking Priest Eunwo’s face. Eunwo shoved him away; Jeongin flopped back onto the floor. Felix leapt onto the priest’s back and the three of them started scuffling. Y/N just stared.
Hoseok turned, sighed at the chaos, then faced his sister. Seokjin stood beside her with his arms folded. “Leave them. I’ll tell you what happened,” he said.
Jungkook jumped in. “She was standing in the lobby with us. A vase almost hit her but she jumped out of the way — we were all busy dancing. Seokjin hyung ran to the elevator, and when he turned back she’d vanished.” He shrugged.
“T-that means the ghost dragged her to the top floor?” Hoseok stammered. Jungkook hummed agreement, then was shoved aside as Eunwo, Felix and Jeongin crashed into each other. Seokjin bent before Hoseok. “That ghost never appears in the lobby or anywhere else except that room. But today she did. Because of jealousy.” Seokjin’s tone was calm as ever.
“Jealousy?” Hoseok frowned.
“Yeah — you know I’m very handsome, and that ghost thinks she’s my girlfriend—” Seokjin grinned cockily and was cut off by Y/N’s sudden, loud laugh. Eunwo shoved Felix off, pulled holy water from his bag and rushed to her, pinning her wrists to the mattress. “TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!” he demanded.
Y/N stopped laughing. “Oh God — I’m Y/N,” she said.
“This is the first time I’ve heard a ghost call out God,” Eunwo muttered, confused.
“He’s second-rate because I paid him a hundred dollars!” Jackson objected, horrified.
“He needs a priest more than anyone,” Felix shouted. Jackson glared at Eunwo.
Someone stuck out his tongue at Jeongin; Eunwo pointed at Jackson. “But this Jackson is also a second-rate rich guy!” he cried.
“GIVE ME MY $100 BACK!” Jackson yelled, rushing at Eunwo who clutched his bag and fled the room. Jackson’s guards immediately chased after him, joined by Felix and Jeongin.
“Oppa.” Y/N hugged Hoseok. He wrapped his arms around her. “Don’t worry — we’re going home,” Hoseok murmured as he held her. Her eyes widened and she broke the hug.
“No! She’s my sister-manager!” Jackson shouted, clinging to Hoseok’s legs. “Oppa, I’m not going anywhere. Even if there’s a ghost, I won’t leave. We’ll find a solution together.”
“These ghosts never die easily. They cause a lot of damage,” Hoseok said.
“We have that priest!” Jackson insisted, still hooked on Hoseok’s leg.
“He’s secondhand. His certificate isn’t genuine. I don’t trust him,” Hoseok dismissed. Jackson whined, and then, seeing no other option, pleaded, “Take me with you. Don’t leave my manager in that cockroach house.” He hugged Y/N tightly.
“Okay, okay — live here,” Hoseok relented. Jackson kissed Hoseok’s cheek, grabbed Y/N and rushed from the room with his guards, triumphant.
Hoseok wiped his cheek in disgust. Y/N thanked him. He stood, eyes thoughtful. “There’s more to this,” he mumbled. “I know you, Y/N.” She swallowed and watched him leave. The moment his back was turned she spun and grabbed Seokjin’s collar, shaking him hard.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU PULL THE PAPERS FROM THE DRAWER WHEN THE GHOST WAS INSIDE ME?!” she shouted.
Seokjin jerked her hands away. “WHERE ARE THE PAPERS?!” he demanded, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her.
“What?” Y/N whispered, confused. Seokjin shouted again, tugging at his own hair. “THE PAPERS AREN’T IN THE DRAWER OR THE WARDROBE!”
Y/N palmed her mouth and sank down on the bed, crying. Seokjin sat on the floor, head in his hands, rubbing his temples. Jeongin and Felix stood guard in front of Eunwo, blocking his way; Jackson roared from the hall, “GRAB HIS COLLAR AND KILL HIM!”
“NO! STAY THERE — YOU’RE POSSESSED!” Eunwo yelled, pointing at Felix. Felix’s eyes widened. “YOU ARE TOO — YOU CAN DIE AT ANY MINUTE!” Eunwo turned to Jeongin, who clutched Felix and screamed, “MY $100! GIVE THEM BACK!”
Jackson leapt between them. “THE BIGGEST GHOST IS INSIDE YOU!!” he shouted at Eunwo, who panicked and let go of his collar. Eunwo closed his eyes. “All of you have been possessed,” he murmured when he opened them again.
“How can I be free?” Jackson stammered.
“Two hundred dollars and a room in this hotel,” Eunwo ordered. Jackson fumbled for his guards, handed over money and a key. Eunwo kissed the cash, pocketed it, and pointed them toward the elevator. Jackson and his men bowed and fled, relieved.
Jeongin and Felix turned to Eunwo. “You’re a fake priest — we don’t believe you!” Jeongin spat.
Eunwo scoffed, standing. “I’m fake, yes — but not as fake as you think.” He opened his bag, pulled out a stack of papers and smirked. “Six billion,” he muttered, clutching them to his chest. He flopped on the bed and whooped, then jumped up, throwing himself about the room in giddy disbelief.
Jackson, safe on his bed, sighed with relief. “Thank God I’m free,” he murmured.
“Wasn’t that priest familiar?” one guard asked.
“I found him in the hotel playground,” Jackson said, defensive. “I asked if he was a priest. He said he was. I asked him to help my manager’s sister.”
“And how do you know he’s real?” another guard pressed.
Back in the room, Y/N glared at Seokjin. “I don’t trust you. What if you took the papers and pretended to be possessed?” she accused.
Seokjin lay flat on the floor, staring at the ceiling. “If you think I betrayed you, go find the papers on your own,” he said bluntly.
“Oh, I will,” she snapped. “After all, she’s my lover — we’ll spend that money together someday.” He scoffed; she clapped theatrically.
“If it’s you with the papers, I’ll lock you in that room with my lover ghost and she’ll make your life hell,” Seokjin growled.
“And if it’s you?” Y/N fired back. “I’ll lock you in my eomma’s room. Cockroaches live there — even giant flying ones.”
Seokjin stumbled backward in disgust and shouted, “SHE IS DISGUSTING!” Y/N huffed and stormed out.
