Forbidden Fate

Chapter 17

 I walk into the kitchen to find it empty. I sigh in relief and start looking for food that will last. It'll take me a total of 6 days round trip because I will be going alone. I find a bag and fill it with apples, bread, and other fruits and vegetables that wouldn't spoil. I know how to hunt. My mother taught me how to from a young age. So I don't need to worry too much. I pack enough food for 8 days so I have extra just in case. I grab a few bottles of water and throw them in the bag as well. Once I have gotten everything I hurried back upstairs to my room.

I hide the food with the weapons and check another thing off my mental checklist. I check in the mirror to make sure I don't look like I just parkoured my way to my room and place some money in a bag to pay off a maid. I look outside at the sun. It's not low enough in the sky. I'll have to wait a little longer to catch a maid in the kitchen. I sigh and lay down on my bed. I cuddle up with my blankets, I should cherish this feeling as much as I can. I won't have this for a while.

A few hours later I hear maids walking through the halls which means it's time to go. I get up, grab the money bag, and make my way to find someone. While I'm walking suddenly somebody runs into me. "Ow, what the-?" "I am so sorry your majesty!" I turn around and see Charlette, a kitchen maid. Her uniform is ruffled and her brown hair is in a messy braid. She's bowed down. "I was rushing to make it to the kitchen and I wasn't paying attention, I'm so sorry!" "It's ok Charlette, hey could you do me a favor?" She looks up quickly, "Of course." I lead her off into a quiet corridor and hand her the money, "Every night bring Zilla some fresh food and water. There will be more money if you do as I say." Charlette looks confused, "B-but your majesty, Zilla is a prisoner. She was so cruel to you. Why-?" "Just do as I say. It'll make sense in time. Just do as I say and tell no one." She nods and runs off. One more thing is done.
