Forbidden Fate

Chapter 26

 The ballroom falls silent as I walk through the doors. Guards immediately run up to me swords at the ready, "Who are you?!" I speak loud and clear, "Princess Ivy Rose Godfrey of Rosewood. Stand down!" They immediately let go of their sword handles and bow, "Of course forgive me, your majesty." My dad stands up from his throne noticeably anxious, "Ivy! Thank god we have been so worried!" His fake tone sours the air, "Please let Kelly take you upstairs so you can change into something more comfortable." "I am quite comfortable thank you." The room fills with a few gasps and whispers at my response. My dad's expression darkens but he quickly catches himself, "Well then, please come up here, we have an announcement to make." The crowd burst into murmurs as I make my way to the king. They move to the side and create a clear path to my father. I reach the throne and walk up the steps. Drue reaches out his hand. I don't take it and more whispers ring out. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" My dad calls out, "We are here tonight to celebrate the engagement of-"

"No."

My dad falls silent as does the rest of the room. I continue, "I will not be marrying Drue Noire." My dad harshly whispers, "What do you think you're doing?!" I turn to my father, "Father I feel like you have ruled for long enough." I bow and secretly take my dagger out of my dress, "This is for Zilla." I quickly move and drive the dagger into his stomach.

Screams ring out as my father hunches over. I take the blade out and lift my dad's head up. "And for mother," I say before quickly slitting his throat, not deep enough to kill him instantly, but enough for him to bleed out. My father falls to the floor and dies slowly. "Ivy! What are you doing!" Drue yells as he attempts to take the blade out of my hands. I instead throw it to the side causing his gaze to follow the blade. In a split second, I draw my sword and swiftly strike Drue, decapitating him.

More screams ring out as I hold my sword down my side. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" The room goes quiet. Only the sound of soft crying and anxious breathing remains. "I am very sorry for what you have witnessed. However, I am your new Queen. Soon enough you will understand why this was how things turned out. But first I would like to introduce you..."

Like clockwork the doors open. Luna, Celest, Lily are all in beautiful dark grey ballgowns, and leading them all is the person this was all for, Zilla. Zilla looks beautiful as if she had never even been in the dungeon. Her red dress glistens in the bright candlelight. Gasps and a few screams ring out as They all walk up to where I am. Lily, Celest, and Luna all line up to my right as I take Zilla's hand. "Zilla is not the bad guy you all think she is! I was in on the kidnapping plot. I agreed to everything that happened!" More whispers erupt. "My dad was half right, We are announcing one engagement tonight! I and Zilla will be getting married. The Kingdoms will be joined and you will have two Queens to help this kingdom prosper." Zilla leans in and kisses me quickly.

Whispers turn to talking and talking turns to yelling. A knight yells out "We will never accept you as our Queen!" A chorus of yeahs ring out. I sigh, knowing what's coming, "Please if you would just let me explain!"

"You killed our king!"

"Your mind has been warped!"

"You will never rule us!"

Statements like this are yelled out at us and I am unable to control the crowd. Suddenly knights charge at us. Lily, Luna, and Celest all draw their weapons. I quickly hand Zilla her sword and I do the same. Every knight that takes a swing at us is cut down. Soon enough there is a pile of bodies at our feet. The room goes quiet once more. I sigh, "Please we don't want to hurt people. However, we will not hesitate to if our lives are in danger. Any violent outburst will be dealt with by any means necessary." I reach up and take my mask off. "We are humans, just like you. I don't expect you to trust us right away but please, give us a chance."

The room is silent for a few moments before someone shouts, "Never!" "Everyone! Let's get out of here!" Everyone runs out of the castle.

"Welp that went about as expected." I sigh and turn to Zilla. "I'm so glad you're safe." I practically tackle Zilla with a massive hug. Zilla chuckles, "I missed you, Ivy..." She gives me another kiss.
