7 years ago within Grim Hex
Calico stormed through the halls of Grim Hex, making it to the briefing room where his crew would be standing in their armor. His team consisted of Harry, Piper, Milton, and himself. They all looked at him in a tad bit of worry as he ripped off his helmet and slammed it on the table, breathing heavily as his head was leaned down.
"That goddamned Porter.. always foiling our damn plans! We aren't stopping till he is dead!" Calico said in anger, now looking up at his crew. Harry would roll his eyes
"We can't keep picking a fight with Jango Org mate, Half of us come out nearly dead each encounter! Get your head out of your ass" Harry would say as Milton lit a cigarette, looking at the hologram table with eyes that seemed to tell a story, one of heartbreak and torture.
"We are all in this together! We made a blood oath! To stick together on our jobs and take down anyone who gets in our way! What the fuck happened to our oath!" Calico yelled to the crew. They all went silent, looking down or away from him. Calico would scoff and grab his helmet, starting to walk to the door.
"We leave in an hour, get your shit together and meet in the hangar you sad sacks of shit." Once he left the room, Milton would put out his cigarette and sit down, keeping quiet. Piper and Harry were still standing at the table, taking in everything before Piper turned to Milton.
"Well guys, he has a point. He might be an asshat, but we did make an oath from day 1. Jango Org is intimidating, hard to fight with their skill and size.. but this next mission is our last chance as maybe getting a shot at Porter and then getting out of the system." Piper would say to the two who seemingly weren't even close to wanting to fight beside Calico. Milton would let out a soft chuckle, looking up at Piper.
"You have high hopes for a captain like Calico, a vicious leader who thinks with the beast inside rather then being logical. This will not end well." Milton would stand and take his helmet, leaving the room as Piper would sigh, shaking her head at Milton. The two hadn't had a good relationship after meeting once more after so long. Piper wanted to reconcile with her long lost brother, but decades of trauma has led to a brother who's walls are always up and never down. A world of hurt made a man of steel with a cold heart that kept everything running. Harry would softly rest his hand on Piper's hand and kiss her cheek.
"Lemme go have a word with the guy, might get something out of him" Harry would say before walking out of the room, leaving Piper by herself while he went looking for Milton. Harry found the man with only half of his under suit on at a locker, grabbing things from inside. Harry had to take a moment before confronting him, having never seen Milton's scar covered back, a branding in the middle that showed he was once an enemy of Grim Hex, turned Mercenary. No one knew how he got to be the way he was, or why thing went so wrong for him in his life. The man never budged when it came to talking, only ever talking when it was needed. Harry would clear his throat and Milton turned to face him, revealing more scars on his torso.
"Y'know mate, your sister has a point about all this. I don't like him just as much as you do, but this can be our last chance out of all of this." Harry would say to him, hoping to somehow reach him.
"There is no bright future for someone as myself, which is why I have separate plans." He said with no emotion, continuing to look through his locker.
"Other plans? Don't tell me you are about to bail on us, on your sister." Harry was confused, looking at Milton as he turned around and came over, resting a hand on his shoulder and locking eyes with Harry.
"Any sane human would leave, and I know you and Piper wont plan on leaving, so if all goes to shit, I'm trusting you to have full care of my sister. Make sure she lives a better life if you guys do succeed. I personally will not be stuck being a pawn in Calico's little game." Milton would say to him before pulling up his undersuit and grabbing another set of armor, leaving the locker room with his locker left open. The set of Inquisitor armor being left inside. Harry stood there and stared at it, realizing the risk of what they were about to do. They will either live a normal life after all this struggle, or a life of imprisonment.
Present Day
Calico looked out the window of the ship, looking into the lights of quantum travel. He was now approaching Jumptown with his crew, a mission that will make or break the team. He would pull out a patch from a pouch in his armor, a symbol the old crew wore before all went to shit. Looking at it before kneeling down, pressing it to his head, taking a deep breath and walking over to a mini disposal chamber, opening it and watching the fire turn on.
"I may have let you all down before.. but I won't let this crew down.. I won't dare let the beast inside win.. I will set things right, once and for all." Calico said before throwing the patch in the fire, staring into it. Watching a symbol of his ruthless past leave, like watching a part of himself be washed down the drain. He may have become Calico, but if one thing was certain, his inner rage was the one thing he would only let out when needed. Now was his chance to prove himself again.
