Chapter 1 - Dawn?

The ocean, a vast and seemingly endless blue is seen in all sides once you are in the middle of it, many has lost their lives in these parts of the world, whether be it during peacetime or wartime

The sky is darkened with ash and smoke while the waters is tainted with burning and sinking shipwrecks, oil and blood, a battle had occurred here, but a massacre is a more appropriate description

The cause? Sirens. Mysterious beings from another world that uses futuristic technology, with their superior technology and superior power, mankind was driven out of their waters and is now being threatened on land

But in this seemingly hopeless situation, hope arose when they discovered something new, something that let them regain foothold on the dangerous waters from the sirens. The Wisdom Cubes

This mysterious cubes were initially not trusted by anybody due to them thinking it came from the sirens, but when the sirens conquered the seas and is now threatening to invade the lands, people became desperate and started searching for a counter

They research and research anything to combat the sirens, that is until they finally make a breakthrough. The Kinetics Artifactual Navy Self-regulative En-lore Node, or KANSEN for short, or Shipgirls as they are more commonly known as by the public

There are many mysteries about the Wisdom Cubes that mankind does not know, and most likely will never know. So it baffled people at how this cubes personify ships, and why was it only female is the only gender that personification of a ship gets or how they managed to equip a smaller version of their ship forms

But there is no proper explanation to this scientifically, but some people thinks it is because of tradition that dates back so long ago, a tradition to call ship as females, and as with many strange traditions, a clear reason why is never really found

The 'shipgirls' have many benefits. They removed the need of a crew to run a whole ship and hence, also significantly reduced casualties and that alone is enough to make a lot of people invest on it for the survival of humanity

There is also the fact that something as small as a human is harder to hit and is also more manoeuvrable than a ship

But as with many advantages, there are also disadvantages. Shipgirls are generally not athletic when they are first summoned, after all, they were ships before they were summoned, they have to undergo training before going in to the battlefield

There are also the problems that every human always faces, emotions. It could lead to disastrous events if left uncontrolled and lead the shipgirls to make mistakes that could be avoided if they are level-headed

Another problem is the fact that newly built ships that gets summoned are naive, so unless the ships that gets summoned are veterans like Mikasa –an old pre-dreadnought Japanese battleship that survived against the sirens and became one of the very first shipgirl– then the only way to properly command tactics is through training and guiding them while also giving them battle experience that they so needed to battle against the sirens

That is how the commander was born. The commander is considered one of the best and they are also the overall leader of the whole navy, being the commander, you have to be attentive, smart, thinks outside of the box, and adaptable
