War is hard. It's just a fact. If you're not willing to accept that, then you probably shouldn't be in the military. If you're going to allow yourself to be weak and scared, then maybe don't put your life in constant danger. Stay inside the walls, curl up into a ball and be a weakling if that's what you see fit.
Those were the bland thoughts of Charlotte Ackerman when she looked around at the new Scouts. A lot had happened since Eren Yeager was found to be a Titanshifter. They'd defeated the female titan (Annie Leonhart), found the identities of the Colossal and Armored Titans, saved Eren from a kidnapping and were in legal trouble with the government for keeping Eren.
So now, they were once again fighting to keep Eren out of harm's way. And the day started to Charlie and Levi entering the safe house they'd hid in, and walking in on utter chaos.
"Put the bread back Sasha." A voice said as Charlie entered behind her brother, the siblings wearing matching glares as they often did. Upon hearing them enter, Eren looked back in horror upon their arrival, while the others didn't seem to notice for a moment.
"Hey, what's all the commotion?" Levi asked the group of teenagers elected into his squad. They continued to lecture Sasha about stealing food as Levi stuck a hand under the table, only to find the underside dirty. When they noticed him, they all went quiet.
"I am quite certain I gave you enough time." Levi grumbled as he glared down the teens and Charlie rolled her eyes. Her brother had always been a clean-freak, and she knew why, but she was the opposite. She was used to eating trash, she hadn't grown to hate it the way Levi did.
"Never mind the dirt." Charlie cut in as she glanced over at the only titanshifter in the room. "Eren, Hange is desperate to get the experiment started. We could probably make haste. Best not to keep her waiting."
"R-right. Of course." Eren nodded, glancing nervously at Levi before he went to get ready for the training.
••
A piercing scream ripped through the air as yet another pathetic version of Eren's titan fell to the ground. The earth shook upon the impact but the titan did not move again. It was the third time this had happened and it was getting ridiculous.
"What's wrong Eren!? Get up! The future of humanity depends on you, damnit!!" Hange yelled down at him but the titan didn't move. Figures. That was just their luck. "GET UP!"
