"Oi." A rough voice broke through the long, expanding darkness. She felt too warm to open her eyes. She was contempt within that darkness. "Hey. You're not dead... are ya?" In a strange way, the male voice seemed familiar, if only in the way he spoke.

Her eyes cracked open and she looked up. She was sat under the storm grate that led to the surface. She'd liked sitting under it and feeling the warmth of the sun. Feeling warm at all. Her tired dark eyes opened. For a moment, her eyes struggled to adjust to the sunlight beating down on her face, but through the sun, she saw a boy stood in front of her.

She couldn't see much of him through the sun, but dark blue eyes were staring down at her. The thing she remembered best about him was the color of his hair, cause it was a shade of orange that she'd never seen before.

 "Oh good. You're alive."

Charlie's eyes pealed open and the first thing she saw was the skyline. I'm alive. Was her first thought as she looked out at the open view. Just a few hours ago, the beast titan was standing in that horizon. But now, staring off that side of the wall, it was wide open land. But Charlie knew that if she stood up and walked to the edge, she'd see the destroyed city. Decimated houses and blood stained grounds. If she looked hard enough, she'd even see body parts.

She let out a deep sigh and rolled onto her back. That movement hurt, because her injured arm hit the ground. She wasn't wearing her black jacket, it was folded under her head, her green cloak was laid over her like a blanket. She didn't remember going to sleep, she must've passed out from blood loss. Her arm was wrapped up now, and she could feel bandaged across her cut up face but it was her entire body that ached. She hadn't eaten in a while, it probably wasn't helping the pain she felt.

"Charlie?" It was Connie's voice, quieter and more tired than it normally was. "You awake?"

Charlie waited a moment before she pulled her knees up and planted her feet on the ground, hoping it would make it easier for her to plant herself back in reality. She ignored her body's protest as she sat up, placing a hand behind her for support.

She sat up and saw Sasha, who looked rather beat up. She was wrapped in bandages and passed out, mumbling in her uneasy rest. Charlie glanced at Connie who was squatted next to Sasha, water canteen in hand.

"You okay?" Connie asked gently, studying her battered face as Charlie glanced around.

She ignored his question. "Where is everyone?"
