'I will miss you so much.'
A blonde, sobbing girl hugs a muscular brunette tight, clamping onto her tightly as if she is a life buoy. Thick tears roll down her pale, light-skinned cheeks like waterfalls, falling down on the brunette's pink leggings where they dissapear. As if they were never there.
'Don't worry, we will see each other again.' The brunette strokes the blonde girl's hair caring. She is speaking in a soft, comforting voice that feels like a warm hug. 'I promise.'
'Visiting you on vacations is not the same.' The sadness shimmers in the blonde girl's hazel eyes, like someone who has lost all hope. 'You will be so, so far away, Margie. We can no longer visit each other on a daily basis. We can't share anything with each other anymore. No more laughing and crying together. We'll be alone from now on. Everything will be different, nothing will be the same anymore!'
The brunette's smile drops as if the realisation just now struck her. A tight feelings clamps onto her chest, making breathing more difficult. It feels like as if her throat gets squeezed shut. Sadness overwhelms her.
'I know...' The words escape her throat with difficulty, as if something restricts it. She bites the inside of her cheek to prevent her lips from shaking uncontrollable, as well as to hold in the tears that are desperately trying to push themselves out of her eyes.
'But I also don't want you to throw away such an opportunity for me,' the blonde quickly says as she notices that Margie's about to cry. 'Follow your heart.'
She lets go of Margie, wiping her eyes to get rid of the tears. She doesn't want to be selfish. She wants to cheer her friend on. Margie should not throw away her future just to be with her friend. That would be wrong of her to do so.
'You too, alright Rei?' Margie softly takes the other girl's hands, stroking the back of the hand with her thumbs. 'We will stay in touch. I will never ever forget you.'
'And I will never forget you.'

Margie closes the back of a car after putting a yellow bag inside. It's filled to the brim with boxes and other bags. She closes it, opens the car door on the right in the back and gets inside. She puts her head through the open window with a smile, waving at a group of people who are watching Margie and her mother leave. Rei is one of them and waves back, but the corners of her lips hang down. The tears race down her face. Despairing, hazel eyes on a pale, light-skinned face look at Margie. No smile is able to appear on her face.
Rei has always been bad at hiding her feelings and they know each other to well, so they won't be able to hide something from each other. Margie knows that Rei will miss her. Rei can't pretend she won't miss Margie, no matter the effort she puts into it. Even if Rei wants her best friend to get this amazing chance, it still hurts her.
The car starts driving. Rei slowly gets smaller and smaller until she dissapears.
An empty, numb pain replaces the joy Margie just expressed. Even though she's excited to move away and start a new life, she will miss everyone she's going to leave behind. Her eyes start burning and a lump gets stuck in her throat. It refuses to get washed away no matter how much Margie desperately gulps. She feels so alone all of the sudden. So painfully alone. She catches herself wishing to turn the car around, getting back to her home, to her friend. The taste of a salty tear tingles her tongue.
It's going to be a long car ride.

'Whoa! Our new home looks amazing!' Margie gasps happily as she looks out of the window. She's been stuck with her thoughts for hours until they finally arrived. At their new house in Rose Town.
A big smile appears on Margie's face. She's been waiting so long for this moment. She can't believe it's finally there. Her new life after graduating from high school. She wants to make the best out of it and is determined to work hard. And her new college is one of the best of Japan! This way she can make her parents proud.
Despite the enthusiasm, Margie is not able to completely shake off the heavy feeling that has her in its grasp. It's like there is a dark cloud hanging above her, despite some sunrays breaking through. But she isn't allowed to show any sign of sadness. She can't disappoint her parents after all. They sacrificed a lot too to move here.
There is no other way than to succeed. Failing is not an option.
A lump is stuck in Margie's throat. She keeps swallowing, but it won't go away. It makes it harder to breathe. Her eyes burn, no matter how much she blinks.
Come on, Margie, she thinks in herself. Be your usual, cheerful and energetic self!
Margie opens the door to jump outside while the car is barely parked. She looks at the house. It's pretty big, made out of white stones, big windows and it has a wooden balcony on the second floor. It's covered with pastel yellow jewels. The garden looks well taken care of. Pink roses show off their beauty while softly dancing around in the cold, February breeze.
'I'll definitely help decorating.' Feelings of determination and motivation tickles Margie's chest, mixing with the tight, heavy feeling of sadness that was already there. Her new home gives her energy. Energy she can use to get her mind off of the changes. To the fact she'll no longer see Rei.
They are like sisters. Ever since the two became neighbors at the age of five, they have been inseparable. Margie and Rei; it's always been the ultimate duo. Everyone around them would say it. They would often eat dinner at each other's house. Every weekend they'd hold sleepovers. Telling each other their secrets. Crying and laughing together. It's going to be lonely without each other. Especially because Rei doesn't have her own phone yet, so there is no way to keep in contant. Rei will only be able to call when her strict parents allow her to, which, knowing them, won't be very often.
Margie's mother smiles sweetly at her daughter. 'I know how much you love to help decorating, so we expected those extra hands. We were also thinking about buying flowers to make it more lively inside. Would you like to buy some for us?'
'Sure! What kind would you like?'
'Anything will do, I'll leave it to you to decide.'
'Thanks! Also, I think we should decorate the inside our home with jewels as well. After all, this town is known for jewels! And it looks so so pretty!'
Margie gasps for air after enthusiastically speaking fast. She then continues energetically. 'Mom, dad, I'm so excited! Thank you so much for moving here so I could attend this town's good college. I won't let you down! I will graduate and find a job after I've finished learning. Promise!'
'No problem sweetheart, we know you can do it.' Margie's mother gives her daughter a close hug. 'We are so proud of you.'
Margie smiles happily as her dad joins the hug as well. She wraps her arms around her parents. The warming love from her parents push away the heavy feeling in her chest. The lump in her throat dissolves. Her parents mean a lot to her. They always manage to make her feel loved whenever she is sad or lonely. Being the daughter they can be proud of is her ultimate goal.
She would do anything to achieve that.
'I love you, mom and dad...' she whispers.
'We love you too, Mar.'
Margie enjoys the silence while hugging then, but then lets them go after a while and smiles at her parents. Feelings of determination rush through her body like electricity. She won't disappoint her parents. She will do anything to make sure she will be the perfect daughter to them. She looks at the car. 'Alright, back to work. These boxes won't unpack themselfs!'
She grabs a box out of the back of the car, dragging it inside their new house. She feels happy when she sees her parents smiling proudly in the distance. They're happy to have such a hard-working daughter. She'd do anything to keep seeing those proud expressions on their faces. Anything so she won't have to see those certain-
No, don't think about them, Margie thinks in herself while brushing away the thoughts. She opens the box, starting to unpack everything that's inside of it. She puts colourful, soft, fluffy pastel coloured pillows on the white sofa. Then she puts candles on the glass table. The candles are covered with silver jewels that are made out of paraffin wax.
Margie runs around quick like a flash to decorate the whole room. As if there is a limited time to get everything done. She hasn't noticed her parents have come inside with some boxes as well. Her heart races in excitement. It's a good thing she is wearing her sports outfit, because she's working so hard it almost seems like an excersize. She's wearing a pink shirt with short sleeves that reaches her neck and pink leggings that reaches her ankles with a white stripe on the sides.
'Sweetie, don't overdo yourself please,' mother worries.
'Don't worry,' Margie says while she continues to work without stopping, feeling the urge to finish the house as soon as possible. 'I will be fine. I love decorating!'
Margie's mother takes her daughter's hands, forcing Margie to stop doing what she's doing. Mother looks her deep in the eyes as if they can touch Margie's soul. Worry is all written over her face. Her blue eyes shimmer like she's about to cry.
'Margie... I never want something like a few months to happen ever again. I don't want you to work hard. I want you to take it easy.'
'Mom, I'm fine! Really.' Margie bites the wall of her cheek. She hates it when her parents worry about her. It makes her feel so weak and useless. The heavy cloud is slowly getting back. The happiness is slowly slipping away, like water running through someone's fingers.
Her mother looks at her with a sad face while speaking in a soft, gentle, caring voice. 'I'm just worried about you. Take it easy okay? There is no deadline to get everything done.'
Margie stubbornly doesn't give in. 'But I won't collapse if I do something like unboxing all our stuff.'
Her mom sighs, knowing she is unable to stop her hyperactive daughter, she can only distract her. A smile appears on her face. 'You know what... You should explore our town instead and buy us some flowers. Here...'
She grabs her wallet and puts some money inside Margie's hand. 'Go buy us some flowers. I'm sure our house would look even better with them.'
'Thanks!' Margie gives her mother a cuddle. She can sense the cloud disappearing as her happiness returns. She gets to her pastel pink bag to take a pink waterbottle out, filling it with tap water from the empty, white kitchen. She grabs her peach pink coloured training coat out of her bag next, puts it on and leaves the house. Then she starts to run. Run like she has never ran before. It's like she is flying, the wind carrying her like it's made out of invisible wings. It cools her at the same time so she won't get too hot. Being a very sporty girl who also runs for charities, she feels herself burst with energy. She won't be getting tired anytime soon. She looks around while she keeps on running. The smell of fresh bread tickles her nose, almost watering her mouth.
There are beautiful, white flowers inside of sandboxes, softly moving around because of the soft breeze. The shops are decorated with jewels in all kinds of colours and the people in town also wear a lot of jewelery. The street is made out of round stones, the colours being brown, dark red and dark yellow. People walk around happily, chatting with bright smiles on their faces. The lively town fills Margie with joy. The wings of the air carry her further and further. After a while, she spots a flowershop. The walls are made out of glass. A sign above the shops says "Shiyo's Flowershop". Beautiful flowers in different shades of blue stand outside in big, white vases in all kinds shapes. Jewels on the vases shimmer when the light hits them. Margie then discovers jewels even grow inside the center of the flowers. She has heard rumours about the flowers of this town growing jewels inside, but she never thought it was true.
'Whoa! So pretty!' Margie cheers out loud, entering the shop with great expectations. The white floor is so clean she can see her own reflection. She looks around, soon spotting pastel pink flowers with little, yellow diamonds growing on the outside of the long leaves.
She walks towards it, kneeling down to take a closer look at them. 'They are so pretty!'
'The Hablo, that's the name our town gave to this flower,' a soft, calm and gentle, shy voice sounds behind Margie.
Margie turns around to discover who is the person who said that. Two gentle, sparkly blue eyes look at her. Margie feels conflicted. There is something about this girl she doesn't understand. It's like they're alone on the world while Margie keeps looking deep inside the girl's eyes.
After what seems like an eternity, the light-skinned girl in front of her starts speaking. 'Hello. You must be new here. I have never seen you before.' She holds out her hand. 'My name is Shiyo Dayao. I work here.'
Margie smiles and shakes the girl's hand. 'My name is Rose Margie. Nice to meet you.'
Dayao smiles. One thing that Margie immediately notices about Dayao is her height. She is taller than most people she has met and is almost two heads taller than Margie herself. Despite Dayao's eyebrows making it look like she's always angry, Dayao has a very soft energy. Dayao plays with her long, strawberry blonde hair. It is shiny, straight and looks well-taken care of. 'I assume you just moved here? I heard about a house on the edge of the town being free. If you want, I can show you around town.'
Margie thinks about how scatterbrained she is. She is someone who easily gets lost. She nods, accepting Dayao's offer. 'That would be nice. But aren't you busy?'
Dayao shakes her head. 'I am on my break right now. I would be happy to help you out. Citizen of Rose Town are always there for each other when we need something.'
'Then I'd love that! I would also like to take some flowers for my home. If you come with me, my mom could also make you some hot coco for your help.'
'That would be really kind, but you don't have to.' Dayao smiles a little nervous, making it obvious that she is a very humble person. Afraid to accept anything being offered to her.
'Don't be silly,' Margie giggles. 'You can't possibly refuse chocolate milk!'
'True.' Dayao smiles shyly. 'What flowers would you like, Margie?'
'I really love the Hablo,' Margie answers. 'I will take them. How much do they cost?'
Dayao shakes her head. 'Free, see them as a welcome present.'
'O-oh... Thank you so much...' Margie stutters amazed, surprised by the kindness of a stranger. 'But you don't have to be so kind. I have no problem paying for them.'
'It's okay, really.' Dayao giggles. Her giggles sound girly and soft. When laughing, she holds her hand in front of her mouth. She takes the flowers out of their vase. 'After all... Who could refuse these pretty flowers?'
Margie giggles as well when Dayao uses Margie's words back at her. 'You got a good point there.'
Margie can't help but to smile. Dayao makes her feel warm inside. It's almost as if they know each other for longer than today.
She watches how Dayao walks to the counter, cutting the lower part of the stems off, next wrapping the flowers up in plastic.
'Alright, they are ready,' Dayao says after she's finished. 'Are you good to go?'
'You bet I am!' Margie cheers with a wide smirk on her face.
The two girls cheerfully exit the flower shop, walking to Margie's house. The wind plays with Dayao's white dress. Blue pearls are stitched on the fabric, around the middle of the skirt and waist. While walking, the two chat a little with each other.
'Let's get to know each other better. So, I am sixteen years old right now and I moved here to study to become a nurse. I also practice martial arts, do weight training...' While Margie speaks fasts, she flexes in the meantime, showing off the muscles she gained with her workouts, not having noticed Dayao's face turning bright red like a tomato. 'I have also won prizes for language contests at my previous school. Oh, and my favorite animal is a polar bear - they're so cute - and my favorite colour is pink. I like to help others out whenever they need help and I donate money to charities.'
Dayao holds her cheeks to hide the blushing. She speaks in a soft voice, making it a little difficult for Margie to hear her. 'That was a lot. I have no idea what to tell you about me. I am not really that interesting.'
'I'm sure that's not true!' Margie says quite loudly, 'I think you are very interesting! Just tell me similar things to what I have told you.'
'Really?' Dayao's voice sounds soft and unsure. Her voice is full of self-doubt. 'Alright,' she continues when Margie nods fastly, 'I am seventeen years old and will turn eightteen this summer. I go to South-Rose's College and I'm good at languages... Uh, I also want to become a nurse.'
'Wait, I believe my college is called that!' Margie gasps. 'Does that mean we are in the same class?!'
'Possible,' Dayao acknowledges with a faint smile. 'I did hear about a new student getting in class soon.'
Margie starts cheering. 'Yay! We will be together in school!' She starts jumping into the air.
Dayao giggles, happiness being all written over her face. It's as if Margie's energy is contagious. 'I am glad we will be. You are truely an amazing person and I'm really glad I met you today!'
'I feel the same. But before we get too off-topic, please keep telling me more about yourself. After all, I still want to get to know you better.'
'Oh! Ofcourse. Where was I? Oh! My favorite animal is a dog and my favorite colour is blue. And eh, I don't have any friends. I think it's because I am so shy.'
'Don't worry! I will be your friend if you want,' Margie offers. 'I will help you to overcome your shyness and I promise you you will get a lot of friends with my help!'
'Y-you'd really do something like that for me?' Dayao asks, a bit overwhelmed by Margie's offering to change her. It makes her a bit uncomfortable, but Dayao manages to not show any sign of that. After all, it comes from a good place.
'Ofcourse!' Margie smiles very wide. 'You are really nice to me and I wanna repay you somehow!'
'Thank you so much. I don't know what to say...' Dayao stammers quietly, making it almost impossible for Margie to hear what she said.
'You don't have to say anything,' Margie reassures. 'Just keep being yourself!'
'You are so kind.' Dayao smiles a little. Maybe Margie just wants to help her with her insecurities and not change her into a different person completely.
'I am glad you think so, I really want to make others happy.' Margie looks up at the blue, clear sky. There is only one cloud visible. 'That's my dream, helping others put a smile on their faces.'
'I want to help sick people get better,' Dayao announces. 'So they can live a happy life.
Margie stares at the cloud. She had been really sick recently. She is scared that it might return. The worry is gnawing at her chest, but she manages to hide it.
