In chapter two, Margie fights Gino in a desperate attempt to save earth from a horrible faith. With the help of an ally, a cute fairy named Candy Floss, Margie manages to turn into a legendary warrior named Cure Sweet. With Candy Floss' guidance, Sweet manages to defeat the monster summoned by Gino. Together, Margie and Candy Floss will search for three other warriors to prevent the earth from getting destroyed.
'Tell me, Candy Floss, I am not injured anymore, how is that possible?' Margie asks the fairy as she eats her breakfast upstairs in her room. She sits on her bed and Candy Floss sits on her desk while they look around amazed. Margie takes another bite of her noodles with freshly cut vegetables.
'Your strong heart managed to bond with the Rose Quartz, healing it. In return, the Rose Quartz healed you and me,' Candy Floss happily answers.
'But how is that possible? It's a stone.' Margie holds the pink jewel in her right hand. It reflex the light that shines on it, being bright.
'Not just any stone.' Candy Floss flies to her. 'This stone is the heart of a planet called Rositaria. It gives that planet life and magic. It protects and guides those who bond with it. Like it gave you your superpowers.'
'I still feel so overwelmed by everything that has happened...' Margie puts her bowl aside, laying down on her back, staring at the ceiling. She doesn't know how to feel. The realisation of everything has left her with a gnawing fear. Gino will come back, and she'll have to fight. There is no backing out. And if she fails...
'I can tell you more about the solar system if you want,' Candy Floss offers.
'Yes please.'
'As you know, it has jewel planets. Because of that, it's also known as the kingdom of jewels. It was a good place. The people were nice, the nature was beautiful... Unfortunately, Gino's boss has destroyed everything. They come from Tourmalitaria, the planet of the black jewel, the Black Tourmaline. I can't remember much about the invaders, but they were terrifying and destroyed all the planets. The royals of four planets gave me their jewels, sending me off to find help. That's how I ended up here, on earth. Unfortunately, I've lost the jewels on my way here, but luckily you've found atleast one of them. With my magic, I am able to let you bond safely with your jewel. We don't know what the people from the black jewel are up to, but all we know is that the chance they want to destroy everything is really big.'
'That sounds awful... We have to find the other three cures as soon as possible!' Margie sits up and balls her fist determined.
'True, and I think we will find them in this town since I lost them here. Unfortunately, it's going to be difficult with so many jewels around.'
'Don't worry, we can do this!' Margie suddenly smiles. 'What if one of the warriors could be Dayao?'
'Pretty Cure warriors can't just be choosen like that. They first have to let the jewel react with them by leting the three parts of the PreCure heart glow. It's a way to fix the damaged jewels like your Rose Quartz. The jewels get their strength from people's hearts.'
'So someone could find the Lapis, the Emerald and the Ruby and become a Cure if the jewel chooses them, just like what happened to me?' Margie asks.
'Yes! But for that they musn't reject the damaged jewel and to have a strong and determined heart, activating atleast three parts of the PreCure heart. You had four.'
'Four? What does that mean?'
'You have so much strength that you are able to heal. It is very rare and it usually only happens when people gain their powers for the first time.'
'That sounds fantastic!' Margie is visibly enthusiastic. 'I've always wanted to help other people and this way I can help them even better!'
'All you have to do is keep on having a good heart.'
'That won't be hard!' Margie giggles with confidence. She has cheered up a lot and decides to believe in herself.
'Margie!' The voice of her mother suddenly sounds from downstairs. 'Dayao is here!'
'Oh!' Margie looks up. 'Candy Floss, a friend of mine is here. Please pretend like you are a stuffed animal.'
'I'm glad I don't have to mention to you that you have to keep the Pretty Cure identity a secret.' Candy Floss flies to the bed and lays down. 'And now I'm curious to see this Dayao you've mentioned before.'
Margie smiles at them and quickly runs out of her room, off the stairs towards her new friend. The smell of lavender coming from Dayao greets her. 'Good morning Dayao!'
'Good morning, Margie,' Dayao smiles, being as calm as the first time they met. She wears a white dress with a blue top and her strawberry blonde hair is loose, looking well taken care of. She is holding a sketchbook in her hand.
'I can't wait to see your drawings!' Margie says happily. 'I bet they are really good!'
Dayao smiles shyly, looks away and blushes. 'Margie, you make me so shy!'
'You don't have to be. Come inside. Would you like something to drink?'
'No thank you, I'm good.' Dayao walks inside. She holds her sketchbook tightly, like it can protect her. She follows Margie to her room. She sees cans of paint and brushes. Newspapers are spread all over the floor. Margie flops on her bed and makes an inviting gesture. Dayao hesitates, but then sits down next to her and places the sketchbook on her lap.
'I bet you are great at it,' Margie says encouraging as she notices that Dayao isn't sure if she should open the book.
'Don't expect great things,' Dayao says and then slowely opens her book. She bites her lip and gives the book to Margie while avoiding her look. Margie takes it, her eyes go big as she sees the artworks. On the first page is a beautiful flower drawn, made with pencils. It's a Daisy flower. In the right above corner is the scientific name written: Bellis perennis. Her signature is drawn next to the flower and in the below left corner is written down how long it took her to draw it.
'It is absolutely beautiful!' Margie cheers. 'Oh Dayao, you should be really proud of yourself!' She turns the page and sees more flowers. It's drawn with soft pastels. On other pages she's used markers, crayons, acrylic, water and oil paint. Beautiful bouquets are drawn in all kinds of colours. They're pleasant to look at, they make Margie feel happy.
Dayao looks nervous, shaking a little while her eyes are burning. She looks at Margie, asking her a question with a shaking voice: 'D-do you really mean it?'
Margie nods, looking at her friend when hearing her voice. She startles as she sees tears in her friend's eyes. She puts the book aside and hugs her, feeling Dayao shake a little. 'You need more confidence, it's truely beautiful, believe me! You are talented and I am sure you will become a great artist! You don't have to cry...'
Dayao gasps and wipes her eyes. She notices that her eyes are indeed wet. 'I didn't even realise I was crying...'
'You don't have to feel ashamed,' Margie reassures with a gentle smile. 'Crying is natural and normal. Holding in your emotions is a bad thing.'
Dayao sniffs. Margie lets go off her.
'In the past I was more open about my drawings.' Dayao looks down, squeezing the skirt of her dress. 'I had an art account on social media. I would show all my art on there, but... Nevermind. It doesn't matter.'
'But what? What happened?' Margie places her hand on Dayao's shoulder. 'You can tell me.'
Margie is pushing, Dayao thinks in herself. But she has good intentions. I am sure I can trust her without her laughing at me. I should give this a chance instead of running away.
And so, Dayao start talking. 'At first it was awesome. I was able to feel better after coming back from school, since people bullied me a lot. I could be a new person, I could share my art. I got super nice comments and reached over a thousand followers. But one day... The people at school somehow discovered my account. They said that it was ridiculous that I would share my art online, with everyone able to see it, but didn't want to show it in school. Then they snatched my sketchbook out of my hands. I tried to grab it back, but I couldn't. They watched every drawing, every sketch, without my permission. They saw my unfinished work. They started to laugh and call it ugly. Telling me that I have no talent. Telling me that I should just give it up. Then they threw my book in the water... I managed to take it out, but all my hard work that I spend hours, days, weeks and months on, was damaged. When I came home that day, I went to my art account and saw hate comments of my classmates. There were even unknown people hating on my posts, which were the friends of these bullies. It made me feel like I am not good enough, that I have no talent, that I should just give it all up. It made me feel insecure about my work. In time I got too scared to show it to anyone. I began drawing less and less, I still wanted to draw because I love it. I kept posting, but not as much as first. The comments then turned worse and worse, more people at school would bother me. I also saw that people would steal my art, claiming it as their own work. This all was too much to handle. I gave up. I deleted my art account I worked so hard for and swore I would never ever touch a sketchbook ever again.'
Margie listened to her story carefully without interruptions. A look of worry can be seen on her face. 'I am so sorry that happened to you, Dayao. I'm sure they were just jealous of you.'
'Then why would they do such things?'
'They want to feel better than you. They hate you because of what you have what they haven't. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that's sadly what people do. They also misuse your insecurities. People often pick on vulnerable people because they know they will be easily hurt. They do it so they will feel better themselves.'
'That doesn't make sense...' Dayao bites the inside of her cheek. She feels awful because of everything that has happened. She's scared that Margie might turn out like these people as well. That she's only pretending to be nice.
'I agree. But sadly, people really are that way.'
Dayao looks down.
'You have the right to draw if that is what you like. No one has the right to take something away from you that you love doing. I know it sounds hard but... try to ignore them. I know that's not the easiest thing to do. I really understand what it feels like, Dayao, but when I ignored or laughed about comments about me, they stopped in time. It's no fun if they don't get their attention. And in time, I stopped caring about their comments because I would look into the mirror, complimenting myself, as strange as it probably sounds... They are people who want you to feel bad, that says enough about them.' Margie smiles at Dayao. 'But I am so proud of you, Dayao! You haven't completely given up art. You are drawing again and you even offered me, a stranger, to look inside your book. These are the first step to regain your confidence. You need more time and I am sure that you will have the courage again to start a new art account. And I will support you in this.'
'Thank you Margie...'
'No problem. That's where friends are for!' Margie hugs Dayao tightly. The shy girl hugs back.
'I feel so relieved,' Dayao admits with a sigh, meaning what she said. 'I feel like a huge weight is off my shoulders.'
'I'm happy to hear that. You will get your confidence back, I promise.'
