oh. where to start.

probably the most difficult love interest in the show.

only might get some competition from elijah.

but first let me start with this because it's something i notice a lot in fanfics involving klaus.

why is he always cheating on the oc with hayley?

i genuinely do not get it.

because these fanfics always set klaus up as being the ideal love interest and he's so amazing and great and then he goes and cheats with some random person that he knew for like five seconds?

all so the plot of the originals can continue.

bonus points if klaus has been with the love interest since he was human. . . a thousand years, he's set up as being a loyal and loving husband and then cheats on oc and oc immediately forgives him.

that's not to say klaus can't cheat. maybe he can. but if he's as loyal and as loving to the oc as the fic claims, then no. because guess what? if that's true, then he's not as loving and loyal as the fic wrote him. and will continue to write him as the fic goes on.

just please please think about the relationship and character before you make a character cheat.

the plot of the originals CAN take place without hope. despite what the show tried to push, hope was not central to the plot. many of the plots could still take place. they might happen a little differently, but many would still occur. but that's another chapter entirely.

just think about it.

so klaus as a love interest depends on what time the oc is meeting klaus.

because a lot of klaus fanfics start this way, i will start with him as a human.

unfortunately we don't know much about him as a human. based on rebekah's description of him, he seemed pretty nice. whether or not he was really nice, who he was nice to, if he could get angry, it's relatively unknown.

however, descriptions from his family can be biased. maybe he was nice to them, maybe he wasn't nice to other people. we don't know. and him being a loving person doesn't mean that he can't be rude or difficult if he chooses to be. it doesn't mean he's loving to everyone.

what you do want to remember is that he was a werewolf. werewolves were said to be temperamental before they triggered their werewolf side. tyler was an example of this. it's possible his father was too. tyler's dad was harsh from what i remember, it's been a while since i watched the first season. and he was a werewolf who hadn't activated that side of him yet.

so you have some wiggle room here, and you really want to use that to your advantage.
