Josh- "im scared"

It's December 20th. It's your first Christmas with your boyfriend Josh. You're absolutely ecstatic, but he wants to take you home to meet his parents and sister. You're terrified about it.
I mean you love Josh and his brothers you really do, but you've never met his parents.
"what if they don't like me? what if they want us to break up?" you anxiously think to yourself, waiting for Josh to come home.
About 45 minutes later, he arrives home, on the phone with his mom, talking about how happy he is to bring you home.
You can overhear him in the other room.
"yeah mom i'm really excited for you to meet y/n. I really love her"
You start to feel warm and fuzzy inside, smiling to yourself hearing your boyfriend talk about you. But, you hear his mom's response.
"i don't know Josh, the last time you brought a girl home i didn't like her, she was rude, i just didn't like her"
Your heart DROPS, you knew it. You knew she wouldn't like you.
"shit, i knew it." you say to yourself.
Josh unfortunately hears you listening to his conversation.
"hey ma I gotta go, i'll call you later. love you"
He hangs up, and runs over to you. Laying in bed, crying.
"what's wrong honey?" he sweetly asks.
"she already hates me, i knew it. i was scared your parents wouldn't like me. and i heard her say she didn't want to meet me"
"honey, i'm sure she didn't mean it that way"
"yes she did! she said she didn't like the last girl she brought home, so why would she like me?"
"y/n she didn't like my ex because she was bratty and rude to my sister. And you're not like that, you're a sweet angel, i'm sure she'll love you."
"what if she doesn't?"
"you have nothing to worry about my love, okay? my brothers already love you, so i'm sure my parents will too"
"okay" you sniffle.
A few days later, you guys leave for the airport, you're still terrified.
Once you get to the airport, Josh leaves to go to the bathroom.
"i'll be right back, okay?"
"okay"
You take a deep breath, praying to God that this goes smoothly.
Josh has other plans though, he calls him mom.
"hey josh! you and y/n are still coming right?"
"yeah we are, we're at the airport right now, but mom she overheard you the other day, talking about my ex. She's absolutely terrified to meet you and dad now, she already was but it's worse now, she almost didn't come."
"oh my goodness, i'm so sorry."
"i appreciate your apology, but y/n's really scared. She was literally crying this morning because she didn't want to come"
"josh honey"
"yeah?"
"i'm sure she's a great girl, but i was just trying to help you"
"help me? mom you made my girlfriend cry"
"i know and i'm sorry i didn't mean to, but your ex was really bad"
"yeah she was, but y/n is really great. she's sweet, and kind."
"that's good to hear. I've gotta go help your dad, call me when you land"
"okay. love you bye"
Josh hangs up, and walks back over to you.
"oh hey josh"
"hey"
"you okay? you seem stressed"
"i am just a little, but i'm okay" he kisses your forehead.
After a little longer of waiting, you hear your terminal called.
Once you get on the plane, Josh holds your hand.
"it's going to be okay. I promise"
"i trust you"
He smiles.
After a very very long plane ride, you finally land in Detroit.
He calls Jake, who's been there for two days now, fo come get you guys.
"hey jake!"
"hey y/n. I'm glad you could come."
"psh, i'm horrifed"
"understandable. But our parents don't bite i promise"
You laugh. "Thanks jake"
Once you get to their parents house, you start to feel more nervous.
"you okay y/n?" Josh asks you.
"not really, i'm shaking"
"everything is going to be okay, i promise."
You take a deep breath. "okay"
You see his mom come outside, as you pull into the driveway.
"MY BABY!!!" Karen calls out to Josh.
"hi mom" he giggles at her remark.
"and you must be y/n"
"yes, yes i am. Its really good to finally meet you"
"you too, i've heard so much about you." she hugs you.
"let's get you guys inside, it's pretty cold out here"
She calls Kelly out to help carry your guys things.
"hey dad" Josh says through his smile
"this is my girlfriend y/n"
"it's nice to finally meet you, josh can't stop talking about you"
You laugh "i'm sure he hasn't" after you shake his hand, you all start to walk inside.
Once you're all settled you meet his sister.
You immediately click with her, you got along so well.
A little while later it's just you and Karen in the living room, she speaks up.
"hey y/n?"
"yeah?"
"i'm sorry...i didn't mean to upset you the other day. You seem like a really sweet girl, i really am sorry"
"it's okay, i really love josh, so i just didn't want you to not like me"
"that's understandable, but i do like you. I can already tell we're going to get along. And my daughter absolutely loves you"
You laugh. "yeah she's really cool"
She smiles.
You have the biggest feeling of relief, knowing that his mom likes you.
Josh is the most amazing boyfriend you've ever had, so you really wanted to make a good impression. And you did, she loves you.
It's perfect, his family loves you, and you love them.
