Because of You

Days went on as Lan Xichen followed Wei Wuxian's past. He could see that Wei Wuxian missed the cultivation world so much but he also felt like he did the right thing for his brother. Lan Xichen thought Jiang Wanyin should have known, he went through all that had happened without even knowing the sacrifice Wei Wuxian had made. Wei Wuxian couldn't even do is proper subordinate work as he had little energy to help.

So Wei Wuxian would spend a lot of time either hidden away in Lotus Pier somewhere, or he would go to a nearby tavern. That was when it dawned on Lan Xichen...remembering he basically told Wuxian that he was being selfish and not thinking of his actions effecting others. Lan Xichen was so worried about his brother that he didn't properly see that Wei Wuxian was broken.

Lan Xichen found himself crying. How badly had he ignored the signs and just let this young man continue to live like this. At the night hunt in Mount Baifeng Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji has an encounter. The two had already bonded, but Lan Xichen witnessed his brother kiss Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian was sitting blindfolded by a tree and his brother took advantage of that.

Though, he then saw Lan Wangji remove the blindfold, "let's go somewhere else," he said to Wei Wuxian.

"Why did you kiss me like that? You owe me," Wei Wuxian said.

"I know, I will pay, but somewhere else," Wangji told him.

Lan Xichen watched as he and Wuxian disappeared from the night hunt, "no wonder I couldn't find you afterwards," Lan Xichen said.

Of course, Lan Xichen had to look away yet again when he saw the two boys attached together and lip locked after entering their room at an inn. Wei Wuxian placed privacy talismans on the walls and a lock talisman on the door. Lan Xichen had always known Wangji for being gentle, kind, easygoing, chill, withdrawn. Now he saw a whole new side. A side only Wei Wuxian got to see and have, and it was an absolute beast of a man from Wangji. Though, the lust between the two were insane.

Lan Xichen basically stood outside of the room. As he waited, he began to wonder how he had neglected to even notice that his brother had changed. His brother was obviously so in love with Wuxian and he suddenly hid it all so well. Lan Xichen knew the first time that the two met in Gusu, that they would be good friends, but never had he expected this. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian eventually finished what they were doing. After cleaning up Lan Xichen walked back in to see the two cuddling on the bed.

"Wei Ying, the scar on your abdomen?" Wangji asked, "What happened to you?"

Wei Wuxian sat up and put his robes back on, "it's nothing, I was just tortured by Wen Chao a bit."

"Wei Ying?" Wangji asked.

"Lan Zhan, I do not want to talk about it...it's too painful to bring up," Wei Wuxian told him.

Lan Wangji put his robes on and then went over to Wuxian, "I won't bring it up again...I just worry for you."

"Why?" Wei Wuxian asked, "no one worried about me before I went missing? Why are people so worried about me now? Just because I cultivate differently? Why is everyone so obsessed with my cultivation anyway?"

"Wei Ying, you talk an unorthodox path, it has never been done without any sort of consequences. You have power that they do not have. That is way...they are jealous of my Wei Ying."

Wei Wuxian blushed and let out a sigh, "your Wei Ying?" He teased and then he gasped in a little bit of pain, looking at his wrist, "the second time we dual cultivate and we get a bonding mark."

Wei Wuxian suddenly started to panic, "no! If I die, so do you!" He said, "that can't happen. You are so much more important...you can't die because of me!"

"Wei Ying, if it is our fate, then so be it," Lan Wangji said.

Lan Xichen stood there quite shocked. He had never seen such guilt wash over Wei Wuxian before. He even had to back track, "not important?" Lan Xichen staid to himself, "we failed you so much Wei Wuxian. How far must society treat you to feel like you have no worth to you?"

Lan Xichen watched is he brother tried to do everything he could to calm Wei Wuxian down. A single kiss was really all it took. Though, Lan Wangji would lie if he was not afraid. He was more afraid of Wei Wuxian's end then his own. He would lose something very important to him. Lan Xichen realized that he missed something so important in his brother that he basically let him die.

Lan Xichen started to cry, "I have failed you, Wangji. If I wasn't so blind!"

Lan Xichen was soon teleported to the day Wei Wuxian's downfall occurred...standing in the middle of Qionqi Path, he saw Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning walking through when an arrow was caught by Wen Ning, and it was only centimeters away from Wei Wuxian Head. Lan Xichen would see just how everything happened in this ambush. He saw that Wei Wuxian was never once, in the wrong.
