As lectures were coming to an end in Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian said he would work on the wards. He was offered to stay in Gusu for a while but he said since there is about two months before the ambush of Cloud Recesses after lectures, Wuxian wanted to spend time at Lotus Pier and fixing their wards. Wuxian said he'd come back not too long before the said ambush was to happen.

Jiang Yanli was also the same. They had to prepare for what was to come. Yanli wouldn't be going to the Indoctrination but Jiang Cheng and Wuxian were. Wuxian already planned out everything but Yanli wanted to make sure that her brothers had emergency supplies stored in their rings. Luckily, those rings can't just be removed either. The owner is the only one who can remove it.

So, at the moment, Wuxian, Wangji, and Xichen were patrolling the boundaries of Cloud Recesses, placing new wards that Wuxian had spent time working on and improving. Making it much more challenging for projectiles to break through and even has a rebound charm to it. If someone tries to attack it, the attacker flies back several meters, potentially getting severely injured in the process.

"I have to say, A'Xian, I am always getting more and more impressed by you everyday," Xichen said.

"Why?" Wuxian asked.

"You are very smart and good at what you do. You make these incredible inventions and charms. People seems to underestimate you for the most part," Xichen said.

"Ugh, I don't like to give off the impression that I am too smart," Wuxian said, "it's not me. I'd rather be my mischievous self but be serious when I need to be."

"Like I said, underestimated," Xichen said.

Wuxian giggled, "do you have any plans with my A'Jie while we are still here?" He teased.

"Possibly," Xichen replied.

Wuxian scoffed and shook his head, "fine don't tell me, and I will not tell you anything between your brother and me."

"I'm sure Wangji will tell me anyway," Xichen said.

"I'm with Wei Ying on this one," Wangji said.

Lan Xichen was surprised to hear that his brother was teasing him now, "really? You too?"

"What would we tell you that you don't already know anyway?" Wuxian asked, "you basically know how our sex life works at this point."

Lan Xichen cleared his throat, "are you being intimate? If so, you better be careful."

Wuxian giggled, "we haven't been intimate," he replied, "and I have been taking birth control anyway. QingJie gave it to me. She said it's best even if we are not active...don't know why."

"Well, normally birth control contains hormones that help with the body. Maybe she just wants to make sure you are healthy," Xichen said.

"And have you touched my A'Jie? Do I need to be in my protective brother mode?" Wuxian asked.

"We have only gone as far as kissing," Xichen said, "I would never disrespect her in any way."

"Good," Wuxian said, "you are better than peacock anyway."

"Did you only have issues with him because he was betrothed to your sister or was it something else?" Xichen asked.

"Honestly, as annoying as he is, he is tolerable compared to the other Jins. They all seem to think the sun shines out of their butts," Wuxian said.

Wangji snorted and then cleared his throat to make it seem like he was not laughing. Wuxian looked at Wangji and raised an eyebrow.

Lan Xichen couldn't help but laugh though, "they do don't they," he agreed.

"I think that one Jin is a shining example," Wuxian said, "ugh...gosh what is his name again? Hundred holes curse Jin?"

Lan Wangji smirked, "Jin Zixun," he told him kindly.

"That's it!" Wuxian said, "to think people thought I was the one who cursed him...can't even remember the dude's name."

"I agree," Wangji said, "don't ever expect me to fight against you like that again either."

"Oh, no worries," Wuxian said, "....but is sparring allowed?"

Lan Wangji smiled, "it is...we still have yet to do that."

"We are both free from working in anything tomorrow, what about then?" Wuxian suggested.

"Would it be alright, Ge?" Wangji asked, "need permission from you."

"If you let me watch, and maybe challenge A'Xian as well," Xichen said.

"Sure," Wuxian said, "it can be two against one, I'm not scared."

"Don't be arrogant," Wangji warned.

"We are in the other side of the wall, technically I'm not breaking any rules," Wuxian said.

"He isn't wrong," Xichen said.

"Will punish Wei Ying later anyway," Wangji said.

Wuxian sighed and looked at Xichen, "pray for me."

Xichen pat Wuxian on the shoulder and nodded, "I will, I pray that you can walk tomorrow."

Wangji chuckled. Wuxian huffed and walked off, "the wards are done!" He said.

"Now you upset the man child," Xichen said.

"I must go apologize then," Wangji said.

Xichen and Wangji walked back into Cloud Recesses. They then went their separate ways. Xichen went to go speak with Lan Qiren about the wards, while Wangji went to go hunt down his soulmate. Wangji ended up finding him back at the Jingshi. Wuxian was sitting on the bed pouting.

Cute, was the first thought that came to Wangji's mind. He sighed and set Bichen in its stand before going over to sit with Wuxian, "are you okay?" He asked.

"Am I going to be punished?" Wuxian asked.

"No," Wangji replied, "we were just playing around. I'm sorry if we upset you."

Wuxian shook his head, "not a good enough of an apology," he said.

Lan Wangji smirked. Wangji pulled Wuxian in and their lips met. Wuxian fumbled a bit as he tried to keep up, and grabbed onto Wangji's robes for support. Their lips danced with each other as Wangji managed to pull Wuxian to his lap. Wuxian let out a soft moan as Wangji's tongue came into contact with his. It has been a little while since the two had a hot kiss like this, and it would always cause Wuxian to become dazed by the time Wangji pulled away. Not before he had his signature nibble of Wuxian's bottom lip of course.

"How about now? Forgiven?" Wangji asked.

"Why am I upset with you again?" Wuxian asked as he was coming out of his daze.

Wangji smirked, "You not being punished."

"Oh yeah...you are forgiven," Wuxian said.

Wangji chuckled as he hugged his soulmate close to him, and held him in a nice embrace, "thank you for forgiving me," he said.

"Only because you are a good kisser," Wuxian replied.

"I will have to remember that for the next time you are upset with me," Wangji said.

"Mnn," Wuxian hummed.
