Lan Xichen stood there outside his father's secluded residence. Being only seven, he was already very intelligent, mostly because he has knowledge about the past...that is now to be his new future if things do not change. He was determined to sit down with his father so that he would take his duty back. Lan Qiren was a teacher, master, and instructor, not a sect leader. Lan Qiren never actually wanted that position and he was then burdened by it so suddenly. Then there was him being the now stand-in father for Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji.

Lan Xichen loves his uncle, but he was not his father, and he was not meant to raise him and Wangji. Lan Qiren was not meant to take in all these responsibilities of running a sect and raising two boys, especially when he wasn't trained to run a sect like his brother was. Lan Qiren's brother, Qingheng-Jun, who also goes by Lan Haozhi, was trained by the previous sect leader to take the duty.

Lan Qiren was studying to be a grandmaster, a mentor, an instructor. He likes the idea of passing on knowledge to others, but taking in two boys who were his nephews, who he loved very much, was not really what he expected. So Lan Xichen was really just trying to get through his father.

"Father?! I came to talk to you?" Lan Xichen said as he knocked on the door, "I know the truth of what happened to Mother! I know everything! I want to talk to you! I miss you!"

Qingheng-Jun opened the door really fast, "how would you, a seven year old, know what could have possibly happened back then?" He asked.

"Father, I know this sounds crazy, but I have lived through one life already and went back to this time. Mother was raped and killed him with his sword to stop him. She did not want to kill anyone but she was forced upon...I saw it," Lan Xichen told him.

Qingheng-Jun grabbed his son by the lapels of his robes and lifted him off the ground so he was face to face with him. Lan Xichen was terrified but refused to show it, "you're right, I do not believe you."

"And because you don't believe it, she killed herself and Wangji kneels outside her door every month. Waiting for the door to open. He gets punished by the discipline whip because you do not care about your family like you say you do," Lan Xichen told him.

Qingheng-Jun threw his son across his yard, "get out!" He yelled, slamming the door shut.

Lan Qiren was standing close by when he heard Lan Xichen tell Qingheng-Jun this. Knowing that his nephew would never lie about such things, he believed him. He believed that Lan Xichen had lived through a past life. Lan Qiren went to Lan Xichen who was laying on the ground. Lan Qiren helped his nephew sit up and saw that Lan Xichen had hit his head and even a broken arm. Lan Qiren was furious.

"Xichen, I believe you," Lan Qiren said, "I will take you to the infirmary and then after they treat you, you and I can sit and talk. Would that be okay?"

"Yes," Lan Xichen said. He did not even shed a tear. He could not blame his father for his anger but at the same time he no longer had any sympathy for him either, "Wangji?"

"He will not be punished again, he may be young, but we should just sit down and talk to him properly. He needs our support more than ever," Lan Qiren said picking up Lan Xichen and carrying him to the infirmary.

"Shufu?" Wangji asked as he saw him carrying his brother, "what happened to Huan-Ge?"

"Why don't you come to the infirmary with us and we can all sit and talk," Lan Qiren said.

"Okay," Lan Wangji said.

Lan Xichen's father goes by Qingheng-Jun but he has a real name, which is Lan Haozhi or his courtesy name. His birth name is Lan Miao.

Courtesy Name: 蓝浩智 Lan Haozhi , 'expansive wisdom'

Personal Name: 蓝淼 Lan Miao, 'vast expanse of water'

Madam Lan's real name, or her courtesy name was Jing Yufei, and her birth name or personal name is Jing Xi. So after marrying, she became Lan Yufei or Lan Xi.

Xi - Dawn
Yufei - flying jade
Jing - Peaceful, tranquil, gentle

Lan Qiren actually had a title and birth name. Lan Qiren would have gone by Danfeng-Jun before his brother's seclusion. His birth name was Lan Sen.
