Austin turned out to be a successful weekend. After an exciting race, Max finally crossed the line first. After a good after-race dinner, they soon left in the direction of São Paulo. Max and Madelyn stayed at their hotel to prepare for the upcoming weekend for the first two days. The Wednesday before the weekend began, they decided to go undercover in town and make it a date day, and in the evening, they would drop by Lando to celebrate his birthday, which was this weekend.

Madelyn was in the bathroom getting herself ready when Max came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Are you almost ready, gorgeous?" He asked softly before he kissed the back of her head.

"Hmm," Madelyn hummed as she finished her mascara. "All done," she smiled at him through the mirror. She placed the mascara back in her make-up bag, after which Max turned her around in his arms. Madelyn fixed a loose strand of hair in front of Max's forehead before she laid her arms around his neck.

"You know, it's been a long time since we had a date day," she said. Max nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it was about time we did something fun together. These last couple of weeks have been killing me, to be honest." He admitted. Madelyn wasn't surprised hearing him say that. She had noticed the tiredness in his eyes for the last couple of days. Luckily, they were almost done. For now, it was only to hope that all this effort would be worth it at the end of the season.

Madelyn was brought out of her thoughts by Max pressing a kiss on the corner of her mouth. "C'mon, we have to go. Otherwise, we won't have any time left in town. We also have to see Lando tonight for his birthday, remember?" Max smiled and let go of her.

They left the hotel and took a taxi to the city center. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, and it was neither too hot nor too cold. Because there were so many people in town, they did not stand out, so there was no reason to wear disguises. It felt a little strange at first to walk hand-in-hand in public. Max held her hand each time they got into a crowded group so they wouldn't lose each other. It did feel a little weird for Madelyn at first not having to hide anything in public, but at the same time, it felt so good. They visited some of the city's highlights and did some shopping before they stopped at a cute restaurant to have lunch.

"This feels good, huh?" Max said after they received their drinks. Madelyn quickly took a picture of them because she thought they looked cute before she placed her phone away and nodded.

"Yeah, it does," she answered. "I wish we could always be like this. I like not having to hide us from anyone else."

"I know," Max said as he grabbed her hand. "Soon, we'll be able to do anything we want. Just a couple more weeks of waiting."

"Well, we've been hiding for months now, so a couple of weeks more shouldn't be a problem," Madelyn chuckled.

"Next week, it will be four months, right?" Max asked. Madelyn needed to try her hardest not to let her mouth drop open. She didn't expect Max to be the one who would keep track of how long they were together.
