(Confront the "Lovely Stu")

(3rd Person POV)

After saying his goodbyes to Nat (hopefully, just for now) Dan arrives at the table, sitting down across from Stu...

Stu doesn't seem to recognize Dan though, to which he believes is due to the hair.

Stu: Sooo... what did you guys want to ask me?-

Dan: *leaning towards Stu* Last night, the corpse of Agent 5 was found in a shed.

Stu: *shocked* ...O-oh-

Dan: There was an octoling in that shed, he tried to kill me... he had an afro just like yours.

Stu's heart drops.

Stu: A-an afro you say...

Mark: *wide-eyed* Dan... you didn't tell me any of this!

Stu: Look, whoever you saw last night, it wasn't me, but I might know who it is.

Dan: *stern* ...If you're lying to me, well... *grins* you know what would happen...

Stu nervously adjusts his collar and delivers a nervous laugh.

Stu: Well, listen... what color was his afro?

Dan: What color? W-well, it was pretty dark in the shed, so... *shrugs* I guess black.

Mark: *scoffs* Black ink? That doesn't even exist!

Stu: *nods* Exactly, but I may have an explanation.

Stu motions for the three agents to lean in toward him.

Stu: Ya know, not all inklings get the same luxury as us. A lot of them don't even have ink!

Dan: *confused* How the hell does that work?

Mark: Wouldn't they just become human, like Meggy?

Stu: *shaking his head* You can't just "become human", some outside factor probably caused your leader to turn out the way she did.

Considering the situation, Stu begins to frown.

Stu: Without ink, all the color fades from your body. You feel nothing but unbearable pain... every blink, every breath... everything hurts.

Dan thinks back to the end of the battle against Octavio. He remembers seeing Sam, laying limp in Nat's arms. He could hear the strain in her voice as her vibrant, yellow ink slowly left her body, leaving Nat to hold a colorless corpse, as he watched her slow and painful death...

Stu: *to Mark* You seriously never stop to look at the people in the fight club? Every last one of them has that same black, dead color in their hair. *stretching* That's why the alcohol business is booming! People have to drink the pain away...

Dan: Your point?

Stu: ...They'll do anything for just an ounce of ink. Dishes, prostitution, you name it. *shaking his head* It's like a drug...

Dan notices Stu's sorrowful expression change to a more fearful one.

Stu: There's one in particular... he's one of the only other free octolings, and he's got an afro just like mine.

Dan: Wait, are you saying this guy's been hired to kill us... for ink?!

Stu: *closing his eyes* Precisely. I'd be cautious if I were you, he's a very feared assassin, *to Mark* one of the only people to beat Kong Killer in the ring.
