Clarke inspects the cage, pulling at the lock. She groans when the lock won't budge. She looks at Anya now.

"I'm not leaving you here, Anya. I'm going to get you out of here," Clarke declares, her voice filled with unwavering determination, before turning around to search for something to open the cage with.

She scans the room, her eyes darting from one cage to another, and spots a slim pipe attached to the wall. She strides over to it and attempts to wrench it off. It resists at first, but with a few more desperate tugs, she falls onto her back with the pipe in her hands. As she makes her way back to Anya's cage, hands reach out to grab her but miss her by a hair, pleading for help. Clarke positions the pipe between the loop and the lock. She strains to open it, the tension in the air palpable, but finally manages to break the lock.

"Okay, come on quick!" she whisper-shouts, extending her hand for Anya to take.

Anya is just about to grasp her hand when someone enters the room. Clarke hurriedly ushers Anya back inside the cage, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Get back in," Clarke whispers; she pushes Anya back and climbs inside the cage alongside her.

The prisoners groan as the person gets closer; upon inspection, Clarke is able to identify the person as Dr.Tsing. She nears the people hanging upside down, checking their vitals. Dr.Tsing walks toward the cages, examining her subjects. Clarke's breath stills as Dr.Tsing approaches their area, but the alpha abruptly stops when a hand reaches for her hair. Dr.Tsing cowards off before she can be touched by the grounders again, leaving the room.

Clarke waits until Dr.Tsing is completely out of sight before opening the cage and stumbling out with Anya in tow. Clarke lifts Anya up, arm slung around her shoulder, walking her toward what appears to be an exit. She opens the heavy door, which reads 'End Containment area.' They enter a confined space. There's no sign of a door anywhere, just 3 walls around them. Clarke is about to return to where she came from when the doors shut in her face. An alarm starts wailing.

"What is that," Anya asks.

Clarke stares at the locked doors, then looks over at Anya. "I don't–"

She's cut off when the floor below them opens, sending them down a chute. They're deposited in a metal cart, their fall broken by a bunch of lifeless bodies. When Clarke notices this, she begins to panic, horrified by their current situation. Anya looks even more disturbed upon seeing the bodies of her once comrades. Clarke tries to stand but tumbles over a corpse, landing on her knees as she tries to get up again; she lifts herself up on the cart's edge. She swings a leg over the edge and, before getting out, stretches a hand to Anya, which the grounder takes. Together, they get out of the body-infested cart.

Clarke looks around; they appear to be in a cave-like mineshaft, as various carts are scattered around the area, and a railway is embedded in the ground. She spots a pile of clothes discarded across from them. She nears the pile of clothes, picking up a shirt, pants, and boots. She calls out to Anya.

"Hey. Get dressed. We can't cover any ground like this."

Anya doesn't look at her; she is too focused on the bodies in the cart. "I won't leave my people behind," she remarks.

Clarke gets up and walks over to the alpha. "Anya, listen to me. My people are still inside that place, too. But these people have guards and weapons. Once we get out of here, we find help. We can come back–"

"There is no 'we,'" the grounder snarls.

Clarke stares at her unbelievingly. After everything she has done for Anya, the alpha still doesn't trust her. Clarke is about to speak when they hear indistinct chatter. They stay quiet. Listening to heavy footsteps approach. Clarke gets a little closer to the noise. She looks at the shadows on the cave walls.
