Clarke's mind is a battleground. The cinnamon scent of the girl lingered as a persistent reminder of her power over Clarke. The commander's words echo in her head as she returns to the ark. She replays them over and over, desperately searching for a solution. But the more she ponders, the more it becomes clear there might not be a way to compromise. The brunette's decision is final. Yet, Clarke's determination to protect Finn remains unyielding. The riders leave Clarke by the ark's gates. Bellamy orders the others to open the gates and hold their fire. When Clarke enters the safety of her home, she's greeted by Finn, who runs up to her. Fear, palpable and raw, makes itself present on her face. She orders the guards to shut the gates quickly and pulls Finn the farthest she can from the gates.
"You can't be out here," She mutters.
Finn stares at her, confused. Abby walks toward them hurriedly. She pulls Clarke in for a hug, checking her from head to toe, cradling her daughter's face.
"Are you okay?" Abby asks the blonde, her voice full of worry.
"Yeah, Mom, I'm okay, don't worry," The omega responds.
"What did she say? Is there hope for peace?" Abby questions.
People gather around them, curious about what will happen with the grounders. Raven, Murphy, Bellamy, and Wells emerge from the crowd. They near Clarke, questioning looks on their faces as Abby and Finn wait for a response. Clarke takes a deep breath. She thinks about lying to her mother, telling her there's no hope for peace so that she can protect Finn. She wants to cower away from the penetrating gazes and run to hide in her tent, but she admits the truth.
"Yes," she whispers.
Abby inhales deeply as she smiles at the news, yet Clarke's expression makes her reconsider her reaction. Her smile fades, turning into a perplexed look. Finn observes the whole interaction and questions Clarke. Everyone focuses on the omega.
"What's wrong?"
Clarke faces Finn, "They want you." She looks at Abby and her friends, "If we want a truce, we have to give them Finn. That's their offer."
The people around them start whispering among themselves. Raven laughs coldly, "That's not an offer."
"It's a punishment. For what happened in the village." Finn repeats Nyko's words at the dropship, "Blood for blood."
"If we refuse..." Abby starts, but Clarke doesn't let her finish.
"They attack."
The crowd grows rowdy as the news spreads.
"I say we give him to them," Is heard among the mass of people. Multiple 'yeahs' are muttered. "Get rid of him" and "Give him up" are repeated by the mob.
A man approaches the group. "Give him to the grounders," the man says, getting closer to Finn.
"Back off," Raven pushes the man away from the beta. The man is about to retaliate when Bellamy and Wells pull him away. Raven is pulled to the side by Clarke, the blonde, attempting to calm the mechanic.
"Raven, listen to me. Nothing is going to happen to him, okay?" Clarke assures. "I promise."
Raven nods. Another man approaches them and speaks directly to the group of friends: "I'm not dying for him! Spacewalker burned three months of oxygen from the ark. He should've floated a long time ago! Throw him out!"
Raven punches the man, and immediately, the crowd goes crazy. Another man goes to push Raven off, but Murphy hurries to her side, pushing the guy away from her instead.
"Don't touch her," Murphy orders.
"Or what?" The guy taunts.
Murphy collides his fist onto the man's face. All hell breaks loose as Clarke and the rest of her crew attempt to pull Raven and Murphy out of the mob. Major Byrne gets involved in trying to pull Raven away from the beaten-up man, only to get punched by the girl herself.
