Pain is itself a remedy when a being is going through the rough patch as one gets a little diverted from existing pain and attention is given to what needs it the most.on the other hand it's also the biggest teacher in life as it teaches to value what you have at your end rather to cry for what hasn't yet found basis of reality. Both Vihaan and Naina had been through a lot individually and together, so much so that they had turned numb against pain when they stayed separated for these two years at a stretch but hardly a moment passed away where they didn't wept in silence for the turn of events and there wasn't a day when they didn't wish to hold each other in a tight embrace to take away the sorrow from their lives.
They didn't planned life to be like this and probably didn't had clue about how life will play with them and the heart's who knew to beat in sync will bleed so bad but destiny wasn't what they had in control. It was the other way round where destiny had always drove them ahead in life and in the end all seemed right in place as it all happened for a reason. Both were strong believers in concept of destiny and also believed that one who shows fortitude get's rewarded by life in best possible manner.
Naina looked at Vihaan through the small glass window on ICU door where he was kept under observation after completing medical procedures. She thought to herself while looking at him as if was asking life about the reward this man lying on ventilator has received for showing indomitable spirit in service and so much of patience in his personal life to go on. She was into a dialogue with herself which seemed to be more like a dual of words with opponent being silent. She couldn't understand what to make out of it when he's there all covered with wires, drips , needles over his body and oxygen supply to keep him alive and still didn't seemed to be there. Her world which had shattered that night two years ago had today fallen down into crumbles at feets of their past , present and future infront of the door of ICU ward in the base hospital. She failed to understand what in world did he do wrong to be in this position and what in world they did wrong to stand so far from each other like this once again. Her questions knew no end and they came cropping up one after the other protruding out of her own mind. By now she had understood how cruel life can be at times to a human from all what she had been through in her life but the face of cruelty revealed to her each time broke her from within.
Sharad couldn't bare the sight of her standing frozen at that door in shock continuously looking at Vihaan. So he held her by hand and made her sit on the bench lying in the corridor and offered her some water. She didn't resisted at all and gulped it down as if she didn't had it from long time. She sat still for few more hours while Sharad kept asking doctors about Vihaan's condition. He was hoping for things to get better before he informs Aditi who was still unaware of Vihaan being met with an accident as she had gone to pilgrimage and network wasn't much available in that terrain.
In the late evening one of the doctor monitoring Vihaan informed Sharad and Naina about his vitals being stable. He also informed that he'll remain unconscious for next 15-20 hours and further medication will take place only after that. Naina on learning this asked Sharad to return to the guest house arranged for them as he was really tired of going through this whole process all day long and even informed him about not worrying for Vihaan as she'll be staying to take care of him.
She was allowed to be sitting close to him in the hospital as was shifted to a separate ward. It was painful for her to see the light of her eyes , the grace of her face and the beat to her heart being so pale, grim and silent. She sat close to him on the chair and kept looking at his face which seemed to be looking like any moment he'll open his eyes and will call out her name. It was midnight and sleep had still not found it's place in Naina's eyes. She was deep into thoughts which were bouncing back and forth in memory files within her head leaving her smiling and silently crying both at same time. Her thoughts had now reached back to the time when right before marriage they had stopped talking and he had met with severe bullet injuries fighting terrorists. She got reminded of how he was lying on hospital bed unconscious in Chandigarh and she had come all the way to see him once, to be with him from Delhi once she got to know leaving all her work and anger behind. One moment she was sad with those painful memories surging up like this in a similar state of events as if things were repeating but next moment she smiled to herself on realising how that last meeting of theirs upon him being injured led down the road to them being married and being in love Truly, Madly and Deeply.
Her thoughts got stuck at how it's after such arguments or exchange of heartbreaking words had pushed them to verge of risking their lives. She knew since that last incidence how she affects Vihaan and how his mental faculties get messed up when she's not in talking terms with him. She was now finding herself responsible somewhere for pushing him so much away that he stands so far from him right now despite being right next to her. Neither of them was responsible for this, it was something inevitable and could have happened to anyone on duty at that point of time, but humans find a way to reason things to satisfy their own self for the guilt they have on their own heart.
