My wife just received a call. She's been struggling for the last couple of months because of her dad's health deteriorating.
They never had the closest relationship but she still loved him. He did give her the world when he could afford it, and she loved her for that.
When she received the call from the hospital, she broke down into tears. I assumed what happened, but I didn't want her to feel like I needed to know her business.
We were sitting in the same room. I just put my headphones on when she got the call, so she could feel alone. She had gone to the bathroom in our bedroom and started crying.
About 25 minutes later, I hear the water run in the bathtub.
I get up and grab some towels to throw them in the dryer so they're warm when she gets out. I grab a pair of my sweatpants and a tank top for her and throw them in the dryer as well.
I walk knock on the bathroom door a little white later. "Daya babe, are you okay? You've been in here for awhile. I'm just checking on you."
She doesn't me so I open the door and see her crying under the water. I put the towels and clothes on the counter and get in the bath with her to lift her up. "Babe, you can't be crying In the bath." She breathed heavily before looking at me.
"Baby, my dad is really gone. I couldn't even say goodbye. I couldn't say I loved him." She lays her head on my chest before her voice cracks.
I wipe her eyes and kiss her head. "It's okay pretty girl, things happen. It's not your fault he got sick. Things happen." She shakes her head at me.
After spending a couple minutes of talking, I help her out of the bath tub and wrap the towel around her. "Babe you got your clothes soaked." You shrug and wrap another towel around her hair before grabbing the lotion. "I can always wash my clothes. It'll be okay."
I rub lotion over her and then help her get her dress before bringing her to the bedroom. I move off the bed so I can get some snacks and water and she grabs my shirt. "Don't leave me in here alone, I want you here with me." I rub her arm and decide to sit on the bed with her.
"Do you want to do something? We can go out to the mall, or we can get food?" She shakes her head no. "I want to lay here all night."
You nod in agreement, "okay my love." You turn off the lights and rub her back as she cries in your arms. You comfort her gently for the night. She eventually falls asleep in your arms.
