PART ONE- THE FINAL WAR BETWEEN FORBAN AND GEIGAN
Chapter I
Amnesia
The first and orange sun, Cyltee (see-al-tee), was rising above the buildings of Forban. It hadn’t reached 7 o’clock and the summer heat was already warming up the city. I ran through the streets, the tap of my boots against the ground and my panting was the loudest sounds in the sleeping city. By the time I had finished my run and reached my house, the second, tiny and blue sun Etayn (ee-tay-n) was following Cyltee. The people of Forban would be awakening now.
I had stopped running when I reached the fence of my house and walked on the stone path between the overgrown flowers to the house. I knew Mother and Father would be annoyed that I hadn’t trimmed the yellow plants as much as they wanted me to those holidays. They had grown as tall as me, their stalks were a pastel yellow and their petals a strong pink. I personally, thought they were ugly plants. Not that the house was much better anyway, it was overly simplistic, cream-like bricks and a faded white roof. It would have been nice if my parents had put effort into their house, it was not uncommon for Esveldzans to build their own house but my parents had moved into the house and it seemed to lose any personality it might have had with the previous owners.
I opened the door quietly and tiptoed in, opening up the fridge and making my family seed and fruit porridge. The house was two storey, like most houses. The kitchen was the first room next to the door, opposite the lounge room. Behind the kitchen was the dining room and behind that a play-room, study, bathroom and a laundry. The stairs were next to the lounge room, they led up to my room firstly, on the left. Next was my new brother’s room, his play room and my parent’s bedroom. Although it sounds big it didn’t look it because of the cluttered mess. I spent many hours trying to clean the house but it always managed to become dirty again.
Father walked down the stairs and eyed the porridge. I looked up at him and greeted him, “Perfect timing father, today I decided to include those nice fresh fruits I bought yesterday at the market you know the-“
“Your Mother and brother don’t want porridge today. Make something else.” Father said shortly, turning on his heel and heading towards his office, the study.
Father was a big man; his belly flopped out over his favourite light brown pants like a muffin top. It was hard for an elf to become overweight, generally our bodies are naturally agile and sleek plus we eat quite healthy. His hair was black and greasy, his eyes teal. A moustache crowded his upper lip. His name was Luuk (loo- ke) of Forban.
“But father, the food will go to waste.” I moaned, such a tone to use in front of my father was a foolish and silly thing to do.
Father glared at me for a while before hitting the porridge with his hand and sending the bowl flying. My clothes were covered in hot sloppy porridge within seconds. Father had an annoyingly short temper, I tried so hard to please my parents but they were never pleased with me.
“Don’t speak to me like that, girl. I could throw you out on the streets and let you feed off compost like parents do in Dreadwill.”Father snapped angrily; spit flying from his mouth across the table and to me, adding to my sloppy mess.
I bowed my head, “Sorry father I will prepare something better.” I apologised softly.
He stormed out of the room, his fat stumpy legs pounding against the wooden floors. I raised my head and glared after him. That lazy ass should make his own breakfast, not get his young child do all the work.
I got straight to work with a different breakfast- this time toast with fruit jam toppings. I placed the food out on the table along with syrup which everyone except me drowned their toast in. Herri (he-ree) skipped steps running down the stairs, tripping and landing on his face. I couldn’t help the laughter that escaped my lips. That stupid kid was barely a couple of years old yet believed he was the elder one.
