Chapter 12: Welcome home, princess

You breathed in a lungful of air as you waited by the gates of Shutoku High as the wind softly caressed you cheek.

"aaWaaaaa!!! Is that Rui-san?!" You heard someone squeal making you stiffen.

"Looks like my cover up isn't as good as I thought." you thought to yourself as you tried to keep an indifferent face as possible so that they'd just think they got the wrong person even thought they were clearly spot on.

You were wearing a olive green jersey that was obviously too big for you with a pair of loose jeans and a pair galactic colored sneakers to look as plain as possible but y it was a fail.

"Ah.. Ano... Rui-san..." A girl approached you shyly while holding a notebook close to her chest. "D-do y-you m-mind I-if I-..." She stuttered nervously as she looked at you with pleading eyes making you giggle softly.

"I don't mind at all." you said as you held out your hand for the notebook while the female student rummaged her bag for a pen. "To whom shall I sign it to?" You asked, smiling at her.

"(Random female name) please." She answered you shyly making you want to just glomp her because of her cuteness but being the ever so polite and well-mannered woman that you are, you held yourself back.

"There. For you young miss." You said with a grin on your face that made the student blush a deep crimson.

"U-uhm... Th-thank you..." she stuttered adorably as you stared at her with a smile until you remembered something.

"Ah... Can you help me by any chance?" You asked her kindly with the same gentle smile on your face.

"I-I guess... If I could, I mean..." she replied shyly, unable to look away from your gaze.

"I'm looking for a guy named Shintarou. Do you know him by any chance?" You asked, your eyes never leaving her face as you leaned by the school gates and tucked your hands in your side pockets.

"Shintarou?" She asked in confusion.

"Mhm... Midorima Shintarou." You said, your smile never fading before running a hand through the side of your hair.

"Ah! Midorima-san!" The girl exclaimed in realization. "I-I think he's still in the gym for basketball practice." she said. "W-would you l-like me to show you the way?" She asked shyly as she looked at you.

"That would be nice." you simply replied as you propped yourself up and motioned your hand for the girl to lead the way. "After you, miss." You said with the same gentle and warm smile from the start.

She led the way and you followed as you walked side by side towards the gym.

Midorima's POV:

I could feel my temper rising as soon as I heard them. A group of damn girls squealing and screaming like Kise's annoying fangirls which made me think that the damn bastard was here to annoy me until I heard a familiar name being chanted by those stupid girls.

"Kyaaaaa!!! Rui-sama!!! Take me with you too!!" they squealed in unison.

"Rui-sama?" Takao asked in confusion as he stopped dribbling the ball in his hands. "They can't mean the Rui, do they?" he questioned no one in particular.

Rui... It can't be...

"Ahh... My apology ladies but I'm afraid I have to talk to someone at your school's gym today." A familiar voice said with warmth.

And as soon as those words were said, a familiar figure entered the gym. Its eyes initially searching the room until they had found and settled themselves on me.

"Ah! There you are Shintarou." that oh so familiar voice said cheerfully sending a sweet tingle down my spine. "It's been a while." She added with a warm smile gracing her lips.

Yes. She.

Everyone might have noticed it because of her... Choice of attire... But I know her well enough to recognize her under any clothing that she would wear. And the fact that Rui is an alias for god-knows-what.

Without giving it a single thought about it, I made my way towards her figure. Paying no heed towards the questionable looks that my senpais gave me or Takao's inquiries, I just made my way towards her.

All that mattered that moment was that she was here. She was finally here. My one and only princess was finally back home. And before I knew it, I was already in front of her with her pale hand before my lips and said the words I've been longing to tell her since the day she had left.

"Welcome home, Princess."
