Before I could even go inside, I kind of yelled, "YOU'RE RICH?!?" he laughed at me when I said it. I live on the "bad side of town" so this was weird. "You know it's nicer inside?" He said again motioning that I could go in. I was stuck in a daze or something. He lives in a mansion. C is rich and he didn't even tell me. I feel.. Betrayed. But also super excited. My best friend is rich.

C figured this out and grabbed my arm to try and have me follow him inside. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. Only on the house. So I didn't recognize who C was for a second, and next thing I knew, I had kicked him in the balls for trying to grab me. I might have just destroyed all of his chances of having kids, but who cares! He could buy the entire orphanage.

C took a minute to recover. I guess I hit him pretty hard. I apologized a hundred times. If he hated me, he could most likely hire a hitman to kill me. Or worse. Damn I just realized how much freedom the rich get.

Once he regained his strength, C said, "F*ck, Bat, I don't know where you learned to kick like that but it hurt. Anyways, do you want to go inside now or do you still need a minute?" I said that I could go inside and we walked up to the gates.

A man in a suit and tie came out to meet us. Looking around, I could see that there were people all around us. Or more so the perimeter of the fences. They all watched C and I. "Open the gate. She's a friend from school." C told the man, referencing to me. "Of course, sir." The short, dapper man said. Sir? F*cking sir. He called C sir.

Inside was just as nice as outside. We were walked to the doors by the same short guy. "Thank you, but you don't have to follow us around. It'll be fine. Tell the others not to bother us either." C said to him once we got inside. The man replied, "As you wish, sir. And ma'am, I do not believe I caught your name."
"I'm Bat."
"Well, Bat, it is a pleasure to meet you. I hope you enjoy your stay here and just holler if you need anything." And just like that, the man walked off.

"Ok, C, you've got some serious explaining to do. Or should I say 'sir'? You're rich and didn't even give me a heads up." I said, pretending to be upset. C laughed and said, "You never asked! We have the whole place to ourselves, by the way. My parents live in Philadelphia. They sent me here because I wasn't planned." The silence after he said that was so loud. I cleared my throat to cut the tension. C laughed at me. "You're adorable." He said under his breath.

He took me to the room where we were gonna be working. It was like a study room and a library all at the same time. Bro has a library in his house. Why? How? Has he read all of these books? Guessing not. I set down my backpack and so did he. I felt so... Weird in this place. It wasn't a feeling of being in harm. Just it was different. Like he said. "So," I said, "should we get to work?"
