Having Fun

Wen Chao was right; Yibo's house was definitely the best one on the block. He had ghosts hanging from the tree, cobwebs, orange lights, and scary pumpkins everywhere. As soon as they stepped on the porch, they could hear creepy music playing, and they got caught in the fog that was being produced from a machine in the corner. They rang the doorbell, and the door opened, but instead of Yibo, an ugly witch popped up, which scared Zhan. Then Yibo appeared in a pirate's costume, and he immediately recognized which pirate he was imitating.

Yibo was surprised to see Zhan and Meilin standing there, but he was happy to see them. "Argh, Ahoy me hearties, what's bringing thee to this pirate's ship?"

Both Meilin and Zhan laughed at his imitation. "I came for the candy."

"Shiver me timbers, I thought you came all this way to see me. You're breaking my heart."

"Hmm, Captain Jack Sparrow, are you? Zhan asked, already knowing the answer. "I could've sworn he was a bit more attractive than that in the movies."

"Well, me beauty, I'm sorry we can't all be as terribly handsome as Johnny Depp," Yibo said, returning to his normal voice. "You still have that huge crush on him."

"If he's supposed to be that old guy whose poster is hanging on his wall, then yes, he does." Meilin said all knowingly.

Yibo laughed as Zhan sneered at his sister. "He's not old. He's just ageing." Zhan returned to a solemn look after he noticed Yibo was staring at him. "Meilin, will you just get some candy so we can go? I'll be at the end of the driveway."

Zhan walked off as both Meilin and Yibo watched Zhan. "He's no fun lately. He has been so miserable, and all he does is cry. He doesn't think I know, but I hear him sometimes."

It hurt Yibo to know that Zhan was hurting as bad as he. He couldn't get it out of Chen what was going on with Zhan, but he had a feeling he could figure it out tonight. "I'll tell you what, wonder woman; I'm docking this ship for the night. How about you take the rest of this candy and I'll walk you and Zhan home."

Meilin shook her head happily, and Yibo unplugged everything and closed and locked the door. Walking down the driveway with Meilin, he noticed the confused look on Zhan's face. "Where are you going?"

"I'm walking you and wonder woman, home."

"That's not necessary; it's just a 15-minute walk. And you have kids to give candy, too."

"I ran out of candy, so I shut down for the night. Let's get going." He started walking, Meilin followed, and Zhan dragged after them.

Meilin was moving fast, and Yibo was now walking with Zhan. "Do you remember that one Halloween you, Chen and I dressed as the power rangers?"

"Of course, that was my favourite costume ever. I remember that Halloween because it was our last one before- anyways, I remember me and Chen fighting over who should be the pink ranger."

"Yeah, and you flipped a coin for it. You won."

Zhan giggled. "I was meant to be her all along."

Silence ensued for a bit as they watched Meilin up in front, and then out of nowhere, 3 people in some masks jumped out the bushes, yelling boo, scaring Meilin, who fell off the curve. Zhan was even scared, but he was more worried about Meilin. The boys had run off, so Yibo didn't bother to take off after them, so he joined Meilin and Zhan.
