Conspiracy

It'd been two weeks since Yibo and Zhan made their relationship known to everyone in their lives. Both of their moms were very supportive of their decision to date, but mother silently worried that their children's happiness would only last for a short moment.

Zhan was enjoying being in public with Yibo. Of course, they got the occasional stares and whispers, but he wasn't going to let that ruin how good things were. Archie was quiet about them, but Zhan was sometimes worried he would change his mind about leaving Yibo alone. It was like Yibo could read his mind when they were at school near Archie because he'd always take Zhan's hand and remind him that everything was ok.

"Damn, if looks could kill, I think you'd be lying in a pool of your own blood right now Yibo," Wen Chao said as the two of them sat in Johnny Cakes' Diner waiting for Chen and Zhan to arrive.

"Wen Chao, what are you talking about?"

"Ok, don't look back now, but Archie's staring over here."

Going against what Wen Chao said, Yibo turned around and saw Archie, who was now laughing at pointing in his direction.

"Yibo, I told you not to look, Now's he going to come over and kick both of our asses. I can't die, I'm too young, and the mathletes need me." Wen Chao said in a whiny voice.

Yibo laughed at Wen Chao's dramatics. "Oh stop crying. Wen, I'm not going to fight Archie, and he's not going to come near me."

Just then, the two of them walked in, and Yibo got up to greet Zhan with a kiss, which caused loud laughter from Archie's corner. Zhan looked over there and grew an uneasy look on his face. "I didn't even see them when we're coming in."

"We can go, Wei, if you want; there are plenty of other places to eat in Lotus High."

"For starters, there's Chen's house. Mrs. Masterson makes the best spaghetti," Wen Chao said while forming a huge smile on his face.

"Wen, just be quiet." Chen said in an annoyed manner.

Zhan looked at his friends. "Guys, it's ok, we're going to run into Archie outside of school a lot more times than this, but we can't let that ruin our good times."

Yibo smiled at Zhan's bravery. Sometimes, he wondered how Zhan could be strong enough to put up with certain things just because of him.

They were finished with their food and enjoyed a good conversation, but soon Zhan had to go to the restroom. He was hesitant about walking past Archie and the team, but he went anyway smiling as he passed them. On his way back to the table, someone with a deep voice yelled slut and it made Zhan turn around and Yibo jumped from their booth.

Yibo ran over, gently shoving Zhan out of the way and turned to the guys who were trying to play coy. "Alright, which one of you assholes said that?"

Zhan was pulling on Yibo. "Yibo, it's ok just let it go."

He was ignoring Zhan, because he wasn't going to just let it go. "Come on, you guys are supposed to be big and mighty. I want you to call him that while I'm standing right here." He waited and nothing happened. "Thought so, cowards."

Archie wasn't trying to hear any of Yibo's sass. "We may be cowards, but it's always better than being a cold blooded murderer."

Zhan was scared of the situation escalating, and he was ready to leave the diner. "Yibo, please listen to me." He turned his face towards him. "You need to let this go and come with me. Please, think of the contract you signed. You can't get into any more trouble."
