Hannibal Lecter is the villain in Silence of the lambs, he has an apprentice(sort of) in Red Dragon, Hannibal Rising is his upbringing In his childhood he lost his parents during World War ll.
They lived in Russia when it happened. When they tried to escape the parents were killed and the kids were captured when soldiers overtook their home.
When the soldiers ran out of food they killed and ate Mischa, Hannibal's younger sister, they fed her to Hannibal when he thought it was a rabbit. A bomb hit the house but everyone miraculously survived and was taken to an orphanage after he escaped the soldiers.
He eventually escaped the orphanage and got his last living relatives' address from a picture of his parents. He went to his aunt's house and was taken in.
A guy cat calls his aunt so later Hannibal killed him. His aunt found out and covered it up.
She taught him how to fight. Hannibal left to avenge his sister's death.
He is later caught after committing more murders. He has been to 5 different continents.

Hannibal is a nice and respectable guy. He is often rewarded for his good behavior with books, and art supplies(heavily monitored so he doesn't get a sharp object to hurt someone), is allowed to make his food(also heavily monitored) and is allowed outside. Whenever he gets what he wants he is nice and respectable.
