I wonder if he has tried to keep it a secret from me the whole day just so I wouldn't be upset. But who am I to talk about secrets?

I guess tomorrow I have to decide...

~chapter 10: Decisions and darkness~

(Y/N) POV

The next day passed quickly, and as soon as I knew it, it was already 5 p.m. I still haven't made up my mind about meeting Edd by the lake, so I tried thinking about the pros and cons of going. The pros being I'll be able to know if the others are okay and find out about what's going on and why Edd needs me. The cons are the guilt I'll feel going behind Tords back, probably getting caught and targeted by the army, and worst case scenario, getting killed. Although it's a risk, I want to know the truth desperately.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I lay in bed hesitating for a while. After probably around 10 minutes of overthinking, I look beside me at my digital clock. "5:30" I muttered to myself.

Alright, it's time to stop being scared.

I jumped up from my bed and went to my closet to take my coat. At this time most of the soldiers are probably training, working on other things such as papers, the lab, and so on. If I don't go now, I won't get the chance to roam around freely again.

I open my door a bit and cautiously peeked through the gap, making sure the halls were empty.

"The coast is clear." As I say this I start making my way through the halls, trying to keep my cool. It took some risky encounters before I was able to sneak off campus through the broken gate I helped the others go through. And so, here I go.

I wandered around the forest for a solid 20 minutes before arriving at the lake.

Seems like he's not here yet.

As I waited for Edd, I take a look at the lake. It's still as clear and shimmery as I first saw it. Or, well, when Tord first brought me here. I still remember the day, us just talking and taking in the peace of nature.

"(Y/N)?" A voice spoke up behind me, to which I startled and looked back. It was Edd!

"Edd!" I said smiling. He smiled at me. "I didn't think you would show up to be honest" He snickered. I shrugged "Well, I want to know what all this is about. So I might as well show up" I replied with a smile. Edd nodded and looked over to the side as if he was looking at something specific. "(Y/N), you surely remember when I said we needed you, right?" His gaze didn't move away from the direction he was looking at. "Yeah, I do. But why do you need me? And more importantly, who is 'we'?" I continued to look at him.

Edds's gaze slowly went towards me, as if he noticed I was just looking at him, full of confusion.

"It seems like Tord has a soft spot for you. Knowing he let you join his army as a prisoner... Surely you guys must have a backstory then." Edd gave me a curious yet suspicious face. It kind of gave me an unsettling feeling.

"I guess so? I moved here not long ago and met him in this forest after he saved me from almost being crushed by a tree. From there on I occasionally saw him here and we hung out and talked." I answered his statement, doing my best to keep my cool.

This is all too insane... He has a soft spot for me. I guess I should've figured.

"I see... The reason we need you is simple. To stop him from taking over the whole country, maybe even others as well. You could get all sorts of information from him if you get closer to him!-" I cut off Edd quickly and shook my head a bit. "H-Hold on, get closer to him??" I asked, hesitant about the idea. Tord is a pretty attractive guy, but he's also very intimidating, god knows when he could rip my head off if he finds out I manipulated him into liking me just so I could squeeze information out of him like lemons to make lemonade.
