"If you do manage to get them to join, I suppose I can protect them too.". (Y/N) let out a big smile.

"Thank you, Tord! now, there's just one small problem..." I tilt my head a bit confused. "That might be...?"

"... I've never been in an army..."

~chapter 8: A friends reunion~

Tords POV

It has now been a week since (Y/N) joined the army. I gave Pat and Paul the order to show her around and tell her how things work since I have been very busy with the imprisonment. I haven't gotten to see her a lot, but when I did she always seemed focused and worried. I'm sure having to convince her friends to join the same army that has captured them and their families is taking a toll on her. From what it seems, she was unsuccessful, but who could blame them? Knowing the girl that just moved here joined the red army and has to follow every order.

I decided to take a stroll through the base and check up on some things. But right when I turned the corner I felt someone bump into me.

"A-Argh!- I-I'm sorry!" (Y/N) looks up at me quickly, sighing. It was like she was relieved to know it was just me. after all, she only made friends with Paul and Pat so far, I see them hang around the halls from time to time. I look down at her and give her a puzzled face. "(Y/N), what's with the rush?".

(Y/N) lets out a fake cough and looks away "I don't know what you mean... I have to go!" she shot out, but before she could leave as fast as she came I gently grab her arm. "You know I dislike liars." I look back at her, noticing that her face has gotten a little red.

She looks... kinda cute like that.

I felt my face heat up a little, trying to push the thought away. But, I love looking at her. Her (E/C) Eyes, her (H/L) and (H/C) Hair, and her lips. I dose off without noticing (Y/N) tried to give me an explanation.

"Tord?? Are you okay?" She had a worried look in her eyes as she noticed me just staring at her. I felt my face heat up as I looked away and let go of her arm "Ahem, Yes. You may go now." I tried to keep a professional tone, but, for some reason, I was worried about her. Worried about what would make her rush away so fast. Though all I could do is stand and wonder as she gave me a quick smile and nodded, then left me.

(Y/N) POV

Argh, stupid period scare! Of course, I also just happen to run into Tord when I thought I was bleeding out!

I stood in my bathroom washing my hands while sighing with embarrassment. After doing so I headed back inside my room to check for the time, it was now 6 p.m. which meant dinner is being served! It's always the best time to gossip with Paul and Pat, even when I haven't been here long, they are the first friends I made here and taught me a lot of things as well. Though there's still a lot of room for improvement, I'm sure I'll get through it. While walking through the halls, deep in my thoughts, I could feel someone grab my arm and shove me to the side. "Hey! Ow- geez!..." I look up to see who was pushing me aside. It's a man with brown hair, a green sweater, and a black coat.

"you're (Y/N), right?" He asked in a serious tone.

I gulped nervously as I positioned myself, ready to pull out my gun in case I was in danger. "Yes, I am. Who are you?". The man smiled relieved before whispering. "Listen, we don't have much time. Red Leader is planning something even worse than imprisonment. We have to stop him. I have seen you in your cell when I and my group came here before, but we were caught before we could free anyone."

My eyes grew wide. So that's why soldiers were running around frantically that day. "And... What do you want from me??" I asked in confusion. It hasn't been long since I decided to join Tord.

"(Y/N), we need you." My confusion got even bigger when he said that.

Why me??... I'm nothing special, is it just because I was one of Tords prisoners?

"Need me? But why? I'm not a higher rank or anything like that. I barely know anything about this place as well" My thoughts were running wild at this point.

The man looked around quickly, hearing footsteps coming closer. Without hesitation, he takes a piece of paper out of his black coat and puts it in my hands.

"I don't have any time left. Meet me at this location tomorrow at 6. We'll be expecting you." As he said this he quickly took off, leaving me to wonder. What does he mean by we?

I slowly look down at the paper and read the note. "meet me at the lake in the forest, 6 p.m."

The lake... The same one Tord took me to when we met the second time?

I let out an exhausted sigh.

"(Y/N)? you alright?" Someone pat me on my shoulder, making me jump a bit. I quickly turn around to see that it was Pat.

"JESUS- don't scare me like that! I almost got a heart attack!" I spat at him to which he let out a nervous chuckle.

"Sorry sorry! You seemed like you were deep in your thoughts. Is something going on? Is it still about your friends?"

Right, I told Pat about Jens and the others, and my failed attempts to convince them to join the army.

I quickly stuffed the note into my coat. "Ah, Uhm... yeah. I was just thinking of giving up since I can't try to convince them forever, you know?" Pat nodded to my answer before speaking up.

"Understandable. Well, training is starting soon and you weren't in your room, wanna head to the outside area with me?" he gave me a smile to which I sighed and nodded. "Yeah, let's go."

Hours passed until I finally finished my training session.

"I need to take a shower, I'm sweating like hell..." I let out an exhausted groan before heading back into the building and taking a shower in my bathroom. Not realizing, something was about to happen that I could never have predicted.

After drying my hair and putting my uniform back on, I start hearing sirens outside the halls and footsteps running around.

This sound... Could it be?...

The only time I ever heard this is when people broke into the base. I immediately ran out of my room to see what was going on, running down the stairs towards the main hall near the main entrance. As I was about to turn the corner to one of the small halls, there I saw them.

Jens... Evelyn... Jana, and... him.

They must've noticed me because they took off running as soon as I arrived.

"WAIT! GUYS!" I quickly followed them through the halls trying to avoid getting seen by the other soldiers. That was until I arrived at a dead-end. Frustrated and confused I quickly look around. "huh?? Where did they go?" Though my question was about to be answered when a screw fell right in front of my feet, making me look up. "The vents?? God, they are fast. But they could lead anywhere. I guess I'll just have to hope for luck that I'll find them before Tord does.."

I'm sorry, Tord. But I have to help my friends get out of here.

With the feeling of betrayal becoming more overwhelming, I start to make my way around the base and outside the yard before hearing a rattle by a small area, not far from the training area. Slowly peeking from the corner I saw how the vent opened up and there they came crawling out.

"How are we gonna get out now though?? These gates and walls are huge!" I immediately recognized it was Janas's voice.

"I'm not sure. We have to find a way though, we can't lose hope now."

I want to help them. No, I HAVE to help them.

I build up the courage to step out of my hiding spot, hesitantly facing them.

"I can help."
