"Hmm yeah. Fighting in this world is completely different then just spamming your mouse. Let me show you!" He pulled out an iron sword and got ready to fight me.
Collin's POV
"O-Oh okay!" I pull out my diamond sword and prepare how I've always fought.
"Well there's your first mistake. Do you learn how to do any sort of combat when you were on Earth?" he asked sliding his feet slightly on the ground making a small scratch in the dirt.
"No? I've never learned to fight." I mutter while trying to figure out what he's doing.
"Welp, you're about to learn quickly. Good luck." he stated charging at me with a swift swing to my chest. I jump back barely in time noticing we were fighting for life or death here. I let out a quiet sigh of relief when I dodged successfully not noticing Steve had snuck up behind me. He swung his iron sword hitting my back with a clean slash. I hissed in pain, actual pain, when he hit me.
"What the- I can feel that?!" I screamed jumping back holding my sword with both hands. It seemed like a diamond sword meant nothing in this world. He swung at me again and I pulled up my diamond sword deflecting the swing just in time.
"Woah this is just like Smash Bros. I can counter your hits-... right?" I asked blocking another attack and swinging my sword towards Steve. He easily dodges my swing jumping up onto a tree branch. "Wait a second- is that a tree branch?! What kind of Minecraft is this?!" I pull out my bow and arrow aiming straight towards Steve. Something I knew how to do at least. Or so I thought.
I pulled back the arrow aimed the bow and fired. Though the trajectory is completely different from what I'm used to. The arrow shoots into the air with a lot of speed. But it completely misses Steve.
"Ah, so you tried to use the bow? Not what your used too hmm?" Steve laughed at my failure. To which I felt my cheeks heat up from embarrassment. I pulled the bow up and tried again. This time having a bit more of an understanding in how to aim. I pulled the arrow back aimed a lot lower and fired.
The arrow shot through the air this time just barely missing Steve. If he would've stood still, it would've hit his arm for sure. But because he moved ever so slightly it missed.
"Woah- quick learner I guess." he grumbled jumping out of the tree and dashing towards me with his sword again. He seemed almost faster now, was he trying to get me to dodge more?
He swung his sword across my chest making me scream out in pain. I slashed my sword across his arm, where he simply let out a quiet hiss. He seemed almost used to the feeling in this world, but I guess that makes sense? I swing my sword again towards him but there's no skill in the swings so he can easily dodge them. He pushes forward making me back up to avoid being hit again.
"Alright, alright. I think I get the difference now. Can you teach me how to fight?" I kept my voice low in case he wanted to jump again. I needed to be able to move out of the way at all times, so I had to speak quietly to conserve as much air in one breath as possible.
"Yeah sure." Steve relaxed his body and put his sword away. This got me to relax now and put my own sword away. We're now walking up towards each other to work on teaching me a kind of fighting style I think?
"So... how are you going to teach- . . . me." I watch him pull out two wooden swords and leather armour. I didn't expect the wooden swords or the armour, until I realised I wasn't even wearing armour. He gave me the armour, and put on iron armour himself. I as well quickly shoved on the leather armour he gave me for some added protection.
"Now, I need you to hit me." he said casually, like this was a normal thing to do. I stared at him surprised and confused, not wanting to really do that. Everything hurt so much more in Minecraft, so why would I want to hit my friend?
He used a hand signal to tell me to swing at him. I really didn't want to but when he threw the wooden sword to me I had no choice but to swing at him.
"Alright... then..." my voice shook as I spoke. I really wasn't ready to do this. Not now, not ever. But here I go I guess.
I held up the wooden sword and ran towards Steve. I lifted the sword above my shoulder preparing to swing down as I got closer to Steve. Once I finally got close enough I used all of my force and swung the wooden blade to the opposite side of my body.
The wooden sword hit the iron armour with a clean vibrant sound coming off. However, the sword chipped a bit on the armour, and it looked like Steve didn't feel a thing.
"What the- are you okay?" I asked panicked as I watched him fall over dramatically. He laughed at my reaction and nodded.
"Yeah of course I'm okay. I've never felt better. Your swordsmen-ship needs a lot of improvement." He said taking the sword out from my hand. I watched him fidget with the sword for a moment before pointing it towards me.
"Put on your best suit of armour and then I'm going to hit you." He said with a small villainous smile. I quickly put on my enchanted diamond armour and stand ready for the swing of the wooden blade.
