"Hey! You got it! Good job!" Steve complemented with a soft smile. It was clear he was getting bored of waiting for me to figure it out. I smiled back walking through the door with Steve following close behind.
Collin's POV
We walk down the much larger hall until facing yet another problem ahead of us. Though this one is a much more interesting problem. A music puzzle, which I wasn't the best at but I can still give it my best shot. I walked over to the chest in the corner and opened it. Inside was a single book that was written in, and noteblocks with a lot of redstone.
"To those who read this, please recreate a small portion of the song: Never Gonna Give You Up. By Rick Astley" was written down in the book. I broke out into laughter having a feeling I knew exactly which part needed to be played. I pulled out the noteblocks, and while I've barely used them before I'm sure I can figure it out.
"Never gonna give you up....? Wait... oh I can do this!" Steve cheered taking the blocks away from me, "you do the redstone and I'll do the noteblocks." He spoke with a happy little tone. My face flushed and I nodded quickly. I let Steve build the music and I connected it all together with redstone. After what felt like forever, we were finally done. We could finally play it and leave this puzzle room.
"Ready for this song?" I say proudly. I press a button and watch the redstone start to glow and trigger the noteblocks. I smile at my creation as it plays Never Gonna Give You Up. Once the song finishes the door opens and we walk through.
"Well.. that was oddly easy." Steve chuckled thinking about the other two puzzles we've already dealt with. And as we enter the next puzzle room, I see my personal worst nightmare. Parkour. And the worst part about the parkour? Was the fact that it was redstone powered. Meaning its very much so timed and if I'm not careful I'll have to restart it over and over again. Of course Steve was amazing at this and beat it in one shot. However, I could barely do the parkour.
I slam the button on wall trying to quickly catch my breath before running and jumping. I land on the block and launch myself to the next one. As I kept going I tripped on the eighth block and fell back to the ground.
"AHH THIS STUPID THING?!" I shouted getting more and more angry with every fail. I climb back up letting myself quickly catch my breath before slamming the button and launching myself to the first block again. Easily landed on the block jumping to the next one, then the next, and the next, until I hit the eighth block again. This time I manage to just barely land on it having to pull myself up. Then I stare at the ladders in front of me for a moment before jumping and barely grabbing onto them. I feel my body slam into the ladders which stuns me for a second. I quickly climb the ladders making the corner jumps easily. Then I got to fence jumps, which I could barely do in the regular game. This was the first time I had made it this far. I took a deep breath mentally preparing myself before jumping to the pole in hung there by the ceiling. I slam into the chain that hangs the pole, but that chain saved me.
"You're doing great Collin! Keep up the work!" Steve cheers as I take another leap of faith to the next pole in the air. This time however when I grab the chain it doesn't save me and I fall back to the floor. I let out another groan and climb back to the start where I sat there for a moment. I looked at the parkour in front of me and decided the best way was to stop taking this like regular Minecraft, and start taking it like actual parkour.
I stood up after catching my breath staring at my target. I knew how to do real parkour, or at least the basics of it. I back up as far as I can go before running forwards. While running I quickly press the button which starts the timer. I jump landing on the block and doing the same old parkour. I got to the ladders and instead of jumping head first, I do a small twist to make sure I don't stun myself this time. I grip the ladders and do the basic corner parkour like always. Then I get to the poles. Instead of doing it so recklessly, I jump just enough to the side to not run into the chain, but enough to grab onto the chain safely. I reach my hands out and grip onto the chain, but my feet slip causing me to fall.
"Shit- shit- its fine just pull yourself up." I grumble as I grip the chains tighter. I try to pull myself up but I slip and fall back to the ground. I groan in pain and quickly make my way back to the start. I repeat these same steps for a while, around four hours of practice till I finally got to the poles and successfully got onto the first pole.
"YES! Here we go!!" I shouted scaring Steve. I laugh at his small yelp finding it kind of cute. I then jump to the final part of the parkour, which was the most annoying by far. Three block wide neo jumps.. and seven of them. I had two ways to do this that I knew of. The regular way, or the more creative way. While one was much safer, I wasn't good at the regular way. So I chose the more creative way. Jumping up and grabbing the top of the neo. I swung myself to the other side and carefully lowered myself. I did this four times, and now was on the fifth neo. I was getting tired but had to keep moving or I'd run out of time. I gripped the corner of the wall with one hand and carefully ran across the wall for another neo jump. Two more to do. I do this neo the normal way and the final neo I start regular but grip the corner of the wall and run across. I found the fancy creative way much more fun.
Finally I had made it to the other side. I stared at the sleeping Steve and I could feel my face heat up. "Oh my god he's so cute sleeping- wait no what am I thinking?!" I shake him gently to wake him up and we continue down the hall to the final room of this chaos.
