Eight

Maria smiled as she played with her daughter. She didn't want to go to work, but having a day with her daughter was enough for her. Hearing her phone ring, Maria grabbed it and started answer. "Hello?' She answered. "Meredith, I'm on my way, I have to wait..."

A knock was heard causing her to thank god for that. "Okay, I'm out the door now."

Maria was trying to figure out what George did to his hair. She heard them talking about why he cut his hair causing her to look at them. "Will you all just stop?" She says. "Meredith caused this and he is trying something new. He's moving on and is tired of pleasing you. Now stop with this shit."

"Maria." She heard Addison causing her to go to her. "Let's go, we have a pregnant patients."

"You are my hero." She says. "Is Callie here?"

Addison shrugged as they went to start their rounds talking about the ones that are about to deliver. She saw Bailey with her baby causing her to smile. They waited for the other interns to walk in causing her to smile as she saw the pregnant woman. "She's due anytime." She says.

"Oh." Maria says. "What's wrong with her?"

Instead of answering her question as the other interns walked in. "Mr. and Mrs. Gibson, I'm Dr. Montgomery-Shepred..."

"Mrs. Gibson had a preterm, premature rupture of her membranes at 28 weeks." Maria says as she put the file down.

"She's been confined to supervised bed rest for seven weeks and has a low grade fever." Cristina continues.

"Can't you just schedule a "C"?' Mrs. Gibson says. "Believe me, I'm ready to have this baby."

Maria laughed as she was on that boat when she was pregnant with Isabella. "Yeah, you and me both." Mr. Gibson says.

"I want to get your blood work back before we make any further decisions." Addison says.

"I have to pee. Again." Mrs. Gibson causing Maria to help her out of the bed. "Thank you."

Maria nodded as she heard the husband complimenting Addison causing her to laugh. When she heard Bailey's baby crying, Maria smiled. "Here, I'll hold him."

"Thank you." Bailey says as Maria stood calming the baby down causing Addison to look at her.

"You are a natural."

"I have a baby at home." She says. "I know how to calm them."

Maria saw Callie staring at George causing her to try her best not to laugh. She leaned against the doorframe watching them talk as she wanted to know what they are talking about and hopes for a couple soon. Hearing her phone ring, Maria shook her head as she knew who it was. "Hello, Mark."

Maria got paged by Cristina and saw the chief, but seeing why she was paged caused her to laugh. "Okay, let me in there." She says causing the chief to move as she got on the floor and started changing the baby's diaper. "See, easy peasy."

"Why are you not watching him?"

"I don't know."

Lunch time, Cristina talked Maria into watching Bailey's baby. She was cooing at him the whole time as she sat with Callie. "Do you want to sit?" She heard and saw George.

"Hey, sit. Please." She says.

"I thought..."

"I'm giving her a break." She tells him. "So, how has your day been with Callie?'

Callie laughed as he smiled at someone not asking him about Meredith and the hair. She looked at Bailey's baby and decided that if Cristina didn't want to babysit, she will.

Sitting where the surgery was going on, Cristina was trying to calm the baby down. "Give me the bag. He's hungry."

"You watch him." Cristina says as she walked out.

"Doesn't bother me any."

The other doctors smiled as they knew that Bailey's baby will be okay. Maria has a talent for babies. She knew that she would actually have to give the baby back to Cristina as she had a patient she had to watch. "She doesn't know she's still in charge of the baby." One says. "Bailey gave her an order."

"Yep and she wants surgery's not babysitting." Maria says as the baby went to sleep in her arms. "Now that he is calm, she has to get him back. I have to go check on my pregnant patient."

The other doctors watched Maria walk out causing them to know that she wasn't going to let Cristina pawn the baby off on her. Something she wasn't going to let happen. No one will not run over her either.

Maria smiled as she saw her patient and the baby as Addison walked over behind her. "You will make an amazing mom and wife." She tells Maria. "Are you still talking to Mark?"

"Yeah. He calls. He's thinking about coming here, but it's not just him. It's Derek's brother too."

"Great." She says. "That is not something I want."

"Addison, maybe focus on your marriage and not your mistakes." Maria tells her. "Trust me, things will work out better that way."

"I'm in love with husband." She says. "And I was in love with my in law too."

Maria looked at her as they walked away together. "Why do you tell me everything?"

The redhead looked at the other Grey wondering the same thing.

At home, Maria was dancing with her daughter. She laughed as she couldn't wait to tell Mark about Isabella. Right now, she was knowing the man and was getting closer to introducing him to her daughter. "I hope he loves you like I love you." She says laying her now sleeping daughter to bed. "Goodnight, my baby. Mommy loves you."

Making sure the door was locked, Maria went around turning the lights off and picking up toys. Once she made it too her room, Maria got in the bed and closed her eyes smiling.

I'm trying to finish off season two, but it's hard. Can't wait till Mark comes back. Till next time.
