You rub your arms, trying to warm up against the morning chill. You should have grabbed your jacket before you left. You don't realise how far you've walked until you hit the woods, at which point you're shivering and desperately trying not to cry. There's a bench just a bit farther up, so you decide to just take a seat.

'Heimdall? I know I said I'd beat you with my shoe if you snitched on me, but I'd really appreciate Loki's company right now.'

A group of men walk past you. Real icky men with their trousers waists below their arses and the stench of weed and booze coming off them. 'Hey, sweetheart, give us a smile!' Your chest clenches as you realise they're speaking to you.

'I've had a long day, guys, please leave me alone.' You get up and start to walk off, but they follow you.

'Oh, don't be like that, babe!' They call out, tugging at you shirt and surrounding you.

'You really don't want to do that,' You reply, smacking their hands away.

One of the other guys chuckles. 'Dude, you scared her. Not cool,' He taunts.

'What? You gonna do, hulk out?' He takes a step forward and you flinch.

'I warned you.' One of the guys behind you grabs your arm, and you blast all three of them with energy, so much that a sphere of purple envelops all of you, and they drop to the floor, groaning.  You stand still for a few moments, processing what's just happened, when your head starts to spin and your legs start to shake. 'Shit shit shit shit shit-' You pull out your phone, tapping your dad's name.

The phone rings, and rings, and rings. 'Why wouldn't you pick up?!' She shake your head. 'Your daughter's unhinged and on the run FUCKING PICK UP!'

You try him again but it just goes to voicemail. 'Dad? I'm sorry. Please call me. It's happening again.' You hang up and throw your phone across the clearing, frustrated. 'HEIMDALL!'

You collapse in a heap on the floor, and the last thing you see is the bifrost slamming into the trees.

-

A minute later, you open your eyes to see Mjölnir prodding the three men to see if they're still alive. They are. The left side of your face feels damp with blood-soaked moss and twigs. A hand strokes your arm. 'Y/n?'

You roll over and see Loki kneeling over you. You smile sleepily. 'Hey Handsome.' You close your eyes. 'I missed you.'

'What happened, love?' He asks, anger in his voice, though he's trying to hide it as best he can.

'They were being dicks, so I blasted them. Evidently not a good idea.'

He sighs and picks a leaf out of your hair. 'I thought you were getting better.'

'Can we talk about this at home? I'm tired.'

'Of course, love.' He kisses your forehead and picks you up, handing you to Thor.

'Why are you giving the mortal to me?' He asks, holding you at arms length as if you're a baby he doesn't quite no what to do with.

'Take her back to the compound. I'd like to have a few words.'

You shake your head, managing with great effort to open your eyes. 'Please leave them, Loki. I think they've learnt their lesson.'

'She's right, brother.'

Loki's shoulders drop, but he turns to the three men. 'The only reason the three of you are alive is because she wishes it. Touch her, or any other woman, again and I'll kill all three of you, then drag you back from hell just to kill you all again.' He nods, pleased with his handiwork, and follows after you and Thor.

As you're walking back to the compound, you open your eyes and look up at Thor. 'Why do you insist on calling me Little Mortal?'

'Well I thought that was rather obvious,' He says. 'You are little, and a mortal. Little Mortal.'

'I have a name, you know.'

'It's a bad one. Little Mortal its better.' You're starting to think he just forgot your name a while ago and is too embarrassed to ask you. You don't terribly mind, anyway. You've never had a nickname before.
