Walking back to what I called, "home," was strange. I knew that when I walked through that door, he would not be there to greet me. He wouldn't take me in his arms and hold me like he once would. Chances are, he might not even want me around.

Without him loving me, it wasn't truly my home, it was only theirs.

Neytiri tightens her grip on my hand to reassure me, after examining my nervous look, "Y/N, you are his mate. Mates have deep emotional connections so, if anyone can help him, it is you," she explains and I force out a smile. "However, until his memory is restored, it is best to try and build a relationship with him. Start over," she reccomends, and I nod my head still staying quiet.

Start over?

That wasn't what I wanted. To build an entirely new relationship when I already had the most perfect one? Starting over was the last thing I wanted to do but, I knew Neytiri was right. For now, I would have to start from scratch.

We finally arrive to the Sully's home and I awkwardly enter the pod. As I come in, the family's worried eyes switch over to me. I try to reassure them with a smile to show them I'm alright, but my puffy eyes narrate a different story.

"Y/N, you're back!" Kiri beams walking towards me, "Everything good?" she asks, whispering in my ear as we now link arms. I give her a 'What does it look like?' look and she clicks her tongue mouthing, "It'll be okay,"

"Neteyam, don't you want to say hi to Y/N?" she asks her brother, who is now sitting up, revealing his bandaged torso. "Uh, hi," he blandly says and I nod a 'hello' back to him.

Kiri looks to me then him taking notice of the silence and deciding to make it a whole lot worse by saying, "Lo'ak, Spider, Tuk, we should go tell Tsireya that Neteyam's awake," Kiri shoos them off, clearly trying to gain some alone time for me and the clueless boy.

"But he won't even remember her?" Tuk brings up. "Just go!" Kiri ushers everyone out, winking to me as she exits, with a smirk that I scoff at.

With the family gone, Neteyam and I avoid eye contact from eachother as an awkward aura lingers.

"My dad told me I have a type of dissociative amnesia," he suddenly breaks the silence which my ears raise to. "Localized amnesia? I can't really remember what's it called," he thinks for a moment, slightly embarrassed as he looks down at his lap. "What does it mean?" I ask him and he sighs, "I'm inable to remember events that happened within a certain period of time. So I've forgotten all about ever coming to Awa'thlu," he explains making me go quiet at the words.

"I'm sorry, for forgetting I mean," he apologizes, a shard of guilt now stabbing my heart, "Do not apologize, this is not your fault," I say taking a seat besides him and he inhales, "Still I am sorry," he finishes, leaving us in the same strange atmosphere.
