"No," I answer, not taking time to even think about the request. "Y/N, it would mean a lot to him and the people," Tonowari continues and I grumble to myself.

"No, even after my apologies he still does not treat me well. I will not," I refuse, making Tonowari and his mate sigh.

Aonung has chosen a new mate, Ouy'enne actually. It's pretty ironic but it doesn't bother me since I have my own mate.

The mate, who has forgotten me.

We are slowly bonding but it's not the same. All of the moments with him are lost and so is the map to find them. I try and think of ways, anything to help his memories come back. Finally I have an idea.

"Please Y/N, after all we have done for you. We beg you," Ronal finally asks of me. I roll my eyes and groan.

The parents stand here asking me of a favor. A favor that just rips my pride to pieces.

They've asked me to sing at Aonung's mating ceremony and I can't help but cringe at the idea. I was his mate to be, but I betrayed him for someone else. Not to mention we still weren't exactly "friends," again, just yet.

We weren't enemies, we were just not friendly with each other. I'd give him dirty looks and he'd return them. Nothing crazy but like I said, we weren't friends.

I sigh as I remember my idea, "Ronal, I will sing at the ceremony tonight if- you do something for me," I say and she raises an eyebrow, nodding towards me to continue. "You will see to Neteyam, help him get his memories back. I don't care for how long but it must be done," I offer the deal.

Before, when I had asked Ronal to treat Neteyam, she refused. I did not get an answer for why but she said it was out of her hands.

This time however, she nods her head quickly, "I will- I will do my best to fix the damage," she agrees and I breathe out, still annoyed at the decision I have made.

"Then it is a deal," I tell the mates who smile and thank me.

After leaving what was once my home, I head to my current one.

Almost there I lay eyes on Neteyam, who is walking along the beach. I make a questioning face and speed my pace up to get closer.

Nearly jogging, I reach his side and he smiles. "Hey," he says, "Hi," I say back, watching how effortlessly he can walk now.

Since that night it has been a week and Neteyam has been walking more, but at a cost. It pains him to walk and that pains me. I usually try to help him but he gets embarrassed and ends up just giving up. I am proud seeing him walk simply and without a hurt look on his face.
