«I didn't have a choice» He decided to answer, leaving me with anguish, damn if it hurt, but what made me feel hurt? What did he mean by those words?

«What do you mean?» I reluctant asked.

«I though you were smart enough to figure that out» His manner was beginning to annoy me, his way of speaking, which compared to before felt like talking to a different person, why is he acting like this now?

But how did I end up in that situation?

◡☾︎𖦹☽︎◡

I was in front of the captain's office, as soon as I left my room still half asleep Ghost told me that the captain urgently needed to talk to me , even if it seemed strange to me..that it was he who spoke to me, but here I am, ready to knock with my heart in my throat, usually he is not the one who speaks personally with his men, what exactly does he want from me?

I was scared.

I took a deep breath and as soon as I tried to knock the door opened before my eyes, it was Captain Price who had opened it, as if he already knew I was there in front of it.
He looked into my eyes for a few moments and then moved sideways to the door, making me understand that I could enter.

As soon as I was inside I scrutinized the interior, I had hardly ever set foot there, or rather..I had never paid attention to the details, when we entered it, it was always dark with a light focused on the desk, now that it was fully day I could see anything which was inside.

Without thinking too much I sat on the chair that was in front of the desk, seeing the captain walk slowly towards his chair and then go and sit on it..he intimidated me.

«Why did you request my presence?» I asked doubtfully, my anxiety could be seen, it could be heard in my tone of voice, and the smile on his face now scared me.

«You have nothing to worry about, I'm not here to throw you off the team» Not that his words made me feel at ease.

«But..» He continued and then stopped, as if he had to think.

Why the fuck doesn't he get straight to the point?!

«I need to send you on a mission» He said making the friendly smile he had disappear, placing a folder in front of my eyes that I opened with trembling hands, inside there could be anything, and that "anything" scared me.
As soon as I saw the contents, I didn't think twice about giving it a quick read.

«A-alone?» I stammered, it wasn't my intention, I wasn't as trained as the others, especially to go on solo missions, I was usually a sniper, I wasn't a melee one.

«Yes Gladeon.» He stopped, and he looked me in the eyes «Alone» He concluded making me shiver up my spine.
He knew well that I didn't like such missions, so why did he do it?

Is he testing me?

«If I may ask-» I didn't have time to finish the sentence.

«You can't go on like this»

«Excuse me?»

At my words he sighed, he too seemed against my mission, he seemed…obligated.

«There will be more missions like this over time…you should start…» There were many pauses in his sentences, strange, he wasn't one to find words.

«There will be someone you know» He went straight to the point for once.

«Oh, you mean Soap or-»

«No.» The way he said it…it gave me chills.

«When you arrive at the place you will understand, now take your weapons and what you need, and don't mention it to the others»

«Sure..» I stood up closing the folder in front of me.

«I'm serious Gladeon»

«Me too. Captain» I said with a fake smile on my face, I didn't want to lie to him, I just wanted to hide my fear, my anxiety, whatever I had.
